How to improve Fiverr V2 gig images?

Fiverr V2 is stepping up their game on the required gig images. They say "No stock photography, you must take the pic yourself."

I did, and then received an email saying I must replace my image with one of "better resolution, graphic or photographic quality," in order to remain listed.

I'm no stranger to Photoshop - I usually pull free stock off of sxc.hu and then filter & layer it with other images or graphics to create a new free-licensed image.

But now it seems I've got to get off my duff and snap actual photos of every topic under the sun I would want to write about. Thin Films: Here's a jet windscreen! Single Beam Spectrophotometer - here's a squirrel eating a nut! What's the deal?

My question is, does anyone have an idea for a workflow or workaround here? Yes, I know I could spend $200 a month at Shutterstock and still violate Fiverr's latest HD (hipster doofus) terms.

If someone suggests using a Fiverr gig I'm going to stab myself in the eye with a soldering iron.

    Hi,

I'm having the same problem. They give a stock reason for denying the image but no information on how to improve it! I don't know how to take a picture of me editing a book description!

Well Bonnie I can take comfort in the fact it's not just me!

The thing about these images is that they must be high-res photographs - with no text! This lets them put it in the header banner, too. I don't really know how to take relevant images as a writer writing about everything under the sun. I could create cool text graphics, no go! Come on, Fiverr, Flickr you ain't!

Gig Cover Photos: How To Make Them Matter | Official Fiverr BlogOfficial Fiverr Blog

    Here's what Fiverr now requires:

To make your cover photos count:
    • Use high resolution and the highest quality composition and color matching, with good lighting and sharp focus. Images must be JPEG at 1100 X 260 pixels and a maximum of 2MB.
    • Make the image full frame side-to-side and top-to-bottom so there’s no solid color background.
    • Use a photo that shows buyers something interesting about you or your gigs.
A few things you need to avoid:
    • Don’t create a banner with icons and text.
    • Don’t use stock photography. You must own the rights to your photos.
    • Don’t use the same image as any of your gig photos.
    • Don’t add text to your photo.
    • Don’t use the same cover photo for more than one gig.
    And the obligatory:

If photography is not an area of expertise for you, consider using a fellow Fiverr seller to create the best photo to display your product!

I had a similar experience. All I did was go over to Google and set up the advanced search to picture above 800x600. I got a good high resolution picture relevant to my gig which i edited.

      Hope that helps

Has anyone tried actually emailing Fiverr when their image gets denied to get a more specific answers? And if so, was there actually a reply?

Keep trying new cover, use higher resolution (not size, since cover size is already decided), if you use photoshop, I think there's an option called DPI. make it higher. also make it sharp.

Fiverr need you to do this because your cover will be stretched in your gig. if you use lower resolution image. your cover will end up blurred.

Looks like they've turned the storefront photo feature off for now, well for me anyway. No idea why.

wow - that is strange.. cos for my gig I used a free capture tool to grab a screenshot of the text results of my software and they accepted that even though the quality is pretty poor and it actually ommits half the relevant data at the side when it crops the image on the site.
I am planning on adding more gigs soon so I am glad I read this now cos I better go spend some time with my camera!
