Is Kindle eBook is a Money Maker

I ask this because I myself don't buy ebooks on amazon. But out there, is there still money to be made on creating a ebook and putting it on Flamazon for $2.99?

Yes, there is money to be made. I know people who are good writers that make lots of money and others don't. In my opinion the most important factor is the marketing of the book. If you don't know how to promote the book, you are lost. So look for someone who knows about kindle marketing.

      Just my 2 cents.

Writing Kindle books is just one kind of business model.

Whether or not you make money is just a matter of how diligently and tenaciously you implement your strategy. You'll need:

    1. Good research skills and niche selection
    2. Awesome content
    3. Good marketing (facebook, twitter, family, friends, etc.)
    4. Persistence - Some books just do better than others
    5. Prolificness (prolifichood?) - Put out a lot of great content as often as possible.

The main advantage of kindle is that they help promote your book if you put a lot of love into the content and promotion on YOUR end. Quid pro quo, Clariiice.

Side note: I've also just put up 3 books on ACX audio exchange (about 5 days ago) and so far....14 sales.

So expanding your reach horizontally through audiobooks, print copies, bundles, etc., will help you optimize your profits.

But make no mistake, it's hard work and takes time and effort. You know, like a umm, real business.

And don't forget... Kindle offers the option of non-fiction or fiction.

Fiction is a huge market and can be a real winning business model for the right person. It is hard work and a long term business, but it can be very rewarding

Obviously, this is not a good business model for MMO and get rich quick aficionados ;-)

I point this out simply because 18 months ago the idea that I could write (and sell) fiction would never have crossed my tiny doggy mind.

Now, I take the skills I've learned from IM, and put them to work on my fiction writing business...

@Tink...it seems fiction kicks non-fiction right in the gluteus. Has that been your experience?

I have 3 non-fiction books out and I'm not averse to writing some juicy stories. Just wondering how much more substantial (or not) the compensation could be...

Because of the speed I am writing (I finish a series before pubbing and I have family issues at the moment) I personally haven't experienced it ;-) But ask me in about 6 months. *VeryBigGrin*

I'm in this for the long haul, so I am pretty comfortable with how things are going for me ;-)

Having said that, I do know of quite a number of people who are doing really well very quickly... and several of them came to fiction the same way I did... from the WF

A big difference between fiction and non-fiction is that fiction readers aren't looking for a solution, they are looking for entertainment. Because of that, they are rabid repeat buyers...

If you work that into your writing/marketing strategy, and take the long view, the rewards are way above what many MMO folks will ever earn... and they are unlikely to be affected by thing like SE changes or technology advances...

The other side of the coin, though, it is hard work... I enjoy it, so that isn't an issue for me.

A note here... Erotica has been getting all the interest here on WF, just because there was an early WSO... There are MANY other sub-genres which have the potential to be HUGE sellers... ;-)

A fiction series can attract an audience who devours everything you write. That said, it can also be harder to compete. Non fiction as a whole can be priced higher and with keyword techniques easier to compete in.

Regardless none of it is get rich quick.

Not always... in fiction, it usually isn't either/or... They buy and read your competitors' books and they buy and read your books because they LOVE the sub-genre...

That said... I listen and take notes to everything you say about Kindle, Lil' ;-)

Not sure what you are saying here. It can be harder to compete in fiction than non fiction. With non fiction it is usually clear what the book is about, it can be keyworded for easy search etc.

With fiction it can be more difficult to get found (though keywording can work here also if done skillfully) Certainly readers will buy up books in a type of genre but they have to find them first.

However, If you put out a fiction book and find an audience for it that loves it, they will often become rabid fans devouring everything you write and begging for more.

I have produced a few kindle books (very quickly) and I sell a few each week... its kinder like a residual model

I dont promote or anything and I make sales so I assume that if you did and you were in the right niche then you would make money :-)

There's definitely a market who buy Kindle books on Amazon.

And the majority of that market is looking for entertainment. So if you can write a great fiction series.. you're in for a win.

There are also others out there who buy the cook books, weight loss books, and just about anything else.. but the hottest type in my opinion is a fiction SERIES.

There are a lot of people who do really well on Kindle, so if you're up for trying it out.. I say give it a go!

Of course! There is a lot of money to be made with Kindle books. But of course, nothing is going to be easy for you to start things off. You need to have an idea about your own story, and put it on Kindle. It will take you a lot of pain to finish your book before selling it, but in the end your efforts are worth it. Just make your Kindle book attractive than ever.
