Blog or your own Info Product?

In your opinion and experience, which one starts generating revenue more quickly?

I think its the latter (the typical minisite with free product and a sales funnel in the backend)
but it would be great to hear warriors' opinions.

Thanks!

It's not comparing like with like at all, really: blogging, for all that it's a potentially monetizable activity, is not in itself an income-source.

Yeah. I meant a blog that's monetized with ad spaces, affiliate offers or even your own products.

You can perhaps see that how it's monetized and promoted is one of the many things that determine the answer to your question?

Among the things you seem to be trying to compare, here, is a purported comparison between "having your own product" and "having a blog monetized with your own product". I'm not trying to criticize you: simply to point out that your questions - as they stand - are not meaningfully answerable, partly because it's far from clear exactly what you're asking, and partly because the answers doubtless depend on a large number of factors not yet mentioned at all.

You should have a blog to build a reputation/authority and create your own info products

Both but your own product is definitely quicker. You can start making money from the first week if you have a good info product and a nice source of traffic.

But both is a good idea too. A product with a mini site, and a blog which focuses on the topic of the product and drives traffic to the offer (Ad in the sidebar and links in the content perhaps).

If you're thinking about which one to create first.. I'd say info product.

Get your info out there and launch it..

Then create your blog and start generating more traffic to see your info product.

    Product or service first.

I started designing for the online world 6 years ago and had my first client within 4 hours of posting that I was offering services. Had my launch expenses covered and was making a profit within a few days.

I recently put out my first product (a graphics product, not info) to test the whole WSO thing and had multiple sales on that within a few hours as well...now I'm preparing for a full launch for that product.

I have a handful of blogs and some don't make any money at all while some of them do. However, it took a while to get my first sales on the ones that actually make money. The ones that don't make money yet...well...if I would have started with those I might have gotten discouraged and looked for something else to do so I'm glad I didn't start with blogging.

    Hi,

Why not just list your product as a product or service at your blog.

That way you can drive traffic/subscribers etc to your blog whenever
you have something to share of true value.

Now you can give great content till your hearts content.

Just an idea to ponder my friend.

    All the best!

    Regards
    Gavin
