GMAIL update...what do you want?

I find it fascinating that Google keeps giving me what I don't need or want...TABS and they don't give me what I do want....
My wishes:
1) a receipt that my mail was received in the INBOX w/o the recipient having to click the pop up
2) ability to change the SUBJECT line in an inbound email
3)ABILITY to permanently HIGHLIGHT text to retain or forward
4) HATE their address/contact control...IF I send an email, I want it automatically set up in my address book.

WHAT do YOU want from Gmail?

That list is a pretty good start. I haven't thought about this issue at all, but now that you mention these items, they'd be pretty cool features to have.

This isn't Burger King, you can't have it your way :p

Google is going to do what they want, and we can either use it or not. After the penguin updates, I've learn not to depend on Google for anything

ALEX...WHY? I am their customer. IF they want me to use Gmail they have to give me what I want OR...I'll go somewhere else.

One thing I've learned, is that Google is doing to do what Google wants to do. Don't think they care about what we want

I want Gmail to give me a list of every man woman and child ever likely to buy a product from me and become my customer. I suspect they won't oblige.

This is why I still use my good ol' POP3 email client, because it can do everything you just mentioned, and more. It is called PocoMail, which is no longer developed nor sold, so it's aging a bit but still works fine on Windows 7. But I would think (hope) that other POP3 clients can do most or all of what you need.

How do I solve the mobility problem? No problem. It can all be set up on my Android.

I do use Gmail, but only for stuff I don't need a lot of control over.
