Made more $$$ when i was 16 than i do now!? Advice?

Hey all I am really excited to have stumbled upon this website today and hope to be a long time member!

I am 21 years of age now and working as an electrician because my parents want me out of the house. I was forced into this job and it makes me miserable as I am the type of person who likes to stay up all night on the computer till 5 am, 6 am, etc... selling, trading, doing whatever i can to make small cash but i am forced to wake up at 6 am to work everyday!

When i was 16 i used to make more money than i do now working online. I would post youtube videos linking to a referral to gaminglagoon (site is shut down now, pay per survey, referral) and i would buy and resell cd keys for video games. Before gaminglagoon shut down i had over 800,000 referrals and because of the info in my video, over 600,000 of them had actually filled out 1 survey or more and i had people posting videos linking to my videos and people referring people under my referral. I was make $120 per day on a good day between selling cdkeys and gaminglagoon! (gaminglagoon does not pay well at all! like 0.05 per survey) and as an electrician i make $80 a day (level 1).

------> What i would like to know is a good easy way that i can get started again doing what i always loved doing.
------>Traffic isn't a problem for me i can find my own traffic although i do not have any web design skills i've only really worked with youtube linking for traffic. Is taking a web design course worth it? (I've been think about doing so).
------>If i wanted to go the CPA route again (traffic for free offers) what would be a better site i could use than gaminglagoon?
------>Being someone who has gone the CPA route (all free offers) what is something now that i could try that wouldn't be too difficult for me to do next that could possibly generate me more income?
------>I am looking for a couple different ways to market and earn money so that I can quit my job within the next year or 2 and stop being so miserable!

Any help is appreciated. Thanks to all who read my post.

Sounds like you already have the basic skills to be a YouTube marketer! Just find yourself some affiliate products or CPA and start making videos. No need to take classes when you can learn web development on YouTube! So, just find an offer/product put up a blog or squeeze page and start hammering out the videos/content. Take massive focused action now!

      I was once like you..

When I was young I wasted so much time on surveys and these 10c things that pay nothing and drove 100,000s of clicks to them.

If only I focused on actually driving clicks to legigitimate offers and products instead.

Cpa offers pay $1-2 an email submit.. with 800k traffic youd have made a killing.

Just get back into it and focus on marketing to real offers and products, running a business rather then trying to make a fast buck on the net because tgose days are gone.. Its much too crowded now. It would have been nice when you w 16 though.

Let me be the first to give you a warm welcome to the WF

A wise man once told me this "Sometimes, you need to do something you don't love in order for you to do something you absolutely love." I know how you feel for your job bud, but don't worry you'll get out of it one day I'm sure

For a 16 year old earning $120 a day, that's not an easy task, you really have the potential there.

IMO, there aren't any "easy ways" to make money online. However, given that you have experience with Youtube Marketing and CPA, you could go that route. That way you already have an advantage over other people.

For CPA Network Alternatives, I've heard some good things about Peerfly There are plenty of good CPA networks out there, just need to do some research.

I know of people who make a killing with PPV (Pay per view) + CPA offers. There's a huge learning curve on that though. It really depends which route you want to go, there are many alternatives like Listbuilding, Blogging etc.

Stick around on the WF, do some learning and researching before you decide which way you wanna go.

All the best and good luck!

The internet is a pretty inconsistent way to make a living, when you do your math of the best day being $150 you don't multiply that by forever, because you need to factor in all those $5 days as well.

It is a shame you don't like being a electrician very much that is a good steady income, and as I am sure you have heard before, slow and steady wins the race, but I know from experience that doing a job you hate is somewhat of a slow painful death.

Opportunities on the internet are few and far between these days, you seemed to have gotten a good burst of income right at the start, and that's good for you, but I think most people need to work 5-10 years to make that kind of daily income these days on the net. If I had an idea I would probably act on it and not share, but I do not have any great ideas at the moment. Selling physical products works for me.

The most money I ever made was when I was 21, and I am 40 now, go figure.

That's sad. With your thinking, I can understand why you're still where you are.

Way to go OP. Just keep pushing on and do YouTube marketing + affiliate links.

You got what it takes. Ignore pessimists and realists like this poster.

You have no idea where I am, and you assume way too much. I have never found making money difficult, and I have a sum that I am satisfied with. Making less than when I was twenty one, does not mean I don't make enough now, I retired to a life of travel for just over a decade at twenty two, and only started working part time for myself recently due to wanting a bit more for my family. The freedom of an internet lifestyle is something I never found at the ridiculously high paying regular job I had when I was younger.

I feel sorry for the over 99% failures at a successful internet business, and all those that tell them it's so easy are not helping those statistics. For me to say "You can do it!" would be some bad MOJO 99+% of the time so I try and say things that are more on the conservative side.

Yeah the post he wrote pretty much killed me the whole way through. I think I died a little on the inside. No point in picking it to pieces though - it's all his focus and perception.

But to the OP - If you were making $120 a day, did you save up any of that cash? You could move into your own apartment and ditch the parents and the job.

You got some really good advice above about promoting higher ticket CPA offers, none of this ten cent stuff. Imagine if you got a dollar per sign-up before...

        You'd of high-tailed it sooner.

Just realize you were driving a ton of traffic. If you did it once, you can do it again. Just do what you did before, except this time do it for a better offer.

        Be careful though...

Don't expect anyone to hand you an offer to promote on a silver platter. You just got to find something that you resonate with, that's good for you.

What you'll be successful at promoting, the other guy might not be. So find your thing and you'll be fine. That's a decision you got to make and just get back to work.

You'll be out of there in no time.

        Thanks
        Marc

The best way to make a regular online residual income is to build an email list. Nowadays it is very hard to sell a physical, or digital product to a first time customer.

If you are able to get your audience on a list -- you can then nurture a relationship with them. Then every so often promote a product that will help solve the problem they have.

Another great way to have money come in on autopilot -- is when you promote a product, try to find one that continues to pay out every month. This can be...

    A membership site
    Coaching
    Hosting
    Auto responder
    etc etc

don't be down about it, the fact is you have something that very few people have and that's experience

you had success and made good money now you have to use that experience to push forward and recover from it

if you want to build a stable income stream then consider creating products and building a list

making commission is all well and good but the moment that offer gets pulled or you lose your traffic you stop making money

if you keep the customers and subscribers yourself you will find it much easier to make a stable income and generate traffic

i know how you feel though as i was in that same position as i worked for 2 years full time while working online and it was hard but all worth it in the end :-)

    just keep pushing forward

I was in a similar position years ago and I trained as a plasterer :-)

I managed to find time between plastering and I built my affiliate business up and its now full time for me :-) although I do still enjoy plastering.

I would also suggest you carry on with your electricians training as it will be a good to have a cushion if things go to shit in the future :-)

Good luck buddy you will be sitting pretty soon enough :-)

Maybe write some articles like on Constant Content to build up some money so that you can invest into A Youtube CPA Sales funnel business.

Try to build up some cash and then use the money to invest in driving your youtube viewers to subscribe to your list and then pitch your CPA offers via your sales funnel.

That being said if you are still living with your olds $80 a day is good :-)

you could invest a lot of that and still go out and drink and meet girls (or guys)

Now try selling real services or products, and get traffic back to your own website.

one thing i will say though is when i was working as a builder i was doing it just so i could still work on building my online business and income to pay for tools and traffic etc

i was never doing it because i liked it or as a back up plan because that is the worst mindset you can get it

forget about playing things safe and having a plan B

the reason why you should NEVER have a plan B is because it distracts you from plan A

just go for it and don't look back :-)

From the post, it sounds like the OP made most of his money buying and selling cd keys for video games. In other words, pirating video games.

Put the same kind of effort and creativity into something legit, and you won't be stringing wires forever.

As for the electrician job, suck it up. Here in the adult world we all have bills to pay and sometimes we end up doing things we don't enjoy in order to pay them.

Just realize that it doesn't have to be forever. As soon as you make enough from your sideline efforts to cover yourself three months in a row, go for it. That's assuming that you are the only one you are responsible for. If you do flame out, at least you'll have a demonstrable skill to fall back on instead of living on ramen and tomato soup made from hot water and ketchup packets.

Is it possible you could live on your electricians income part time? Say 3 days a week ? And work on the internet business 2-4 days a week to get it all set up and going ?

If you can find a way to live on 3 days electricians work and devote 3-4 on your net business, you could probably achieve total freedom in 4 years or so, on a legit business.

How about opening up your own electricians business, and hire electricians to do all the work you detest, then you could dominate the internet advertising for it if that is what you are into, maybe branch out into a web marketing business once you have lots of cash rolling in and become a pro.

You are fortunate to be an electrician, because you always have that to fall back on if you need it.

Wow! Did not expect this much support! I'm already falling in love with this forum. Thanks everyone for the motivation, i think i'm going to look for a CPA PP email signup and start creating a blog full of different offers and experiment with different ways to have traffic sent to my blog. Hopefully i can then add banners and possibly higher paying items to my blog in the future. This is all I would know how to do at the time because I don't really understand anything else quite yet.

I would like to learn about mobile advertising as i have heard it pays good.

I also want to learn how to make a website reselling products from another website at a slightly increased price that offers drop shipment if this is a good way to make money?

Thanks again everybody for the warm welcome.

I would suggest you to pick an area that you like and market in the various ways you know how. But, the key here from my experience is to set up a proper sales funnel to get leads. For the long term, you want a list that you can market to. Even if people do not buy right away, offer them something of value for free and market an offer later.
