Finding Reputable Solo Ad Providers?

by tpw
43 replies
I see people talking about the benefits of solo ads on a regular basis.

I also know that many solo ad providers are as shady as a big oak tree. :p

The bad ones will do the following:

* Send blind copy to their list to drive up the click-throughs for the buyer;
* Send deceptive ads to their list to ensure a higher click-through or sign-up rate;
* Send bot traffic to offer pages;
* Pay mturk peeps to subscribe to their customer's lists.

As someone who buys solo ads, how do you determine which solo ad providers are the good ones and which ones are the bad ones?

    There a couple of ways to determine Good ones from Bad ones.

    If you go with the Industry Leaders like Igor, you can never go wrong. Then again it will cost you some $$$

    The most important thing I find with finding good Solo Ad providers is to check for Good Reviews about them. Normally I wouldn't buy from Websites (They could just come up with fake reviews), I'd rather go with the Classified Sectons in the WF.

    Apart from that, just cross your fingers and pray

    On a final note, you may want to check these out

      When it comes to spending your money to grow your business through advertising, its good to check out the reviews on those businesses, make sure that they have a money back guarantee and ask a ton of questions to make sure that you are comfortable. My advice is that once you find a great person or company to advertise your business with or drive traffic to your offer…stick with that one person or business. I personally like igor because he is very personable, respond to questions quickly and has built a business with 100% integrity. I hope this help

    Thanks.

    I don't mind spending the money. I just hate flushing money down the rat hole of deceptive advertisers.

    I stick to only one solo ad provider, Matt Barnett...

    I'm sure there are other good solo ad providers, but when you find one or two good ones, you have to stick with him. It seems like everybody and their baby mommas are selling solo ads these days.

      That's because there's certain stuff to look out for like mentioned above, but who to use is going to vary based on what niche you're in, how much you're willing to spend, and what your actual reason for buying solo ads is.

    The only solo ads I will buy are from safeswaps because they are rated by previous buyers so you can see what your getting into or someone I was already familiar with ( well known respected marketer )

    Any other option I would rather invest on building a list through PPC at least you know what your getting into.

    from my experience I have decided to just buy a lot of solo ads, and track them. I buy as many as possible, as often as possible, never buy from the ones that don't produce, and keep buying from the ones that do.

    cause they can say anything, but the proof is in the pudding with solo ads

    I've been using safe swaps, and I only deal with those who have had prior reviews. When ordering from a provider I usually start with their lowest package, and if the deal goes well, then I'll purchase a higher package and build on that.

      Look for ezine/newsletter publishers within your niche(s). What I do is first test the response rate with relatively inexpensive sponsor ads. If conversions are acceptable, then I'll ramp it up to solo ads as well as consider other marketing options to the publishers' readership audience. Buying solo ads only from established and reputable publications can significantly reduce the risk of encountering deceptive or shady advertisers.

    There are a ton of scammers, no doubt.

    The best advice I can give is to search for reviews in the marketplace of safe-swaps.

    But... Lots of scammers still get "good reviews" unfortunately.

    Also... Join the list of your solo ad provider.

    You can learn a lot from joining their list.

    Be weary if they send a ton of emails.

    Be even more weary if you don't see them sending any emails.

    With more and more people selling solo ads everyday in this niche you must be more cautious.

    Lots of people are selling these days but the quality is not so good and doesn't convert.

    Solo ads work great, but not if they are people who are getting promoted to everyday.

    Always ask the solo ad vendors:

    Where does your traffic come from?

    How was this list built?

    How often do you mail offers to your subscribers?

    What locations are most of your subscribers from?

    What is your average open rate?

    Does it include buyers?

    How soon can you mail out?

    Note: There are different types of solo sellers.

    Remember quality of quantity!

    Always test small and track conversions, than if it works out for you see about scaling it.

    Hope it helps.

    Rule of thumb:

    Don't buy from someone who doesn't have massive social proof

    Although there are many shady sellers out there, do your due diligence. If they don't have social proof, don't be the guinea pig for them. The WF Classified section is great for finding top sellers.

    There seems to have been an explosion in the number of people offering solos.
    Added to there is just so much scope for scamming. So social proof is vital.

    Go to safeswaps and only use the top rated guys, they will be more expensive but worth it. Whatever method you use when you find someone good stick with them.

    When I first started list building, I got really excited at the choice of suppliers and purchased lots from different people, most of them were rubbish and I wasted a a lot of money.

    Best way to find reliable solo ads is to buy on solid networks or from vendors recommended from someone you trust.

    Use Udimi for example. Sellers have reviews there so while that's not 100% safe, at least it saves you from some low quality solo ads vendors.

    Warrior is another good place to look for vendors. If someone has a solid reputation in the forum and has his thread selling solo ads, he doesn't want to ruin his reputation for a couple of bucks.
