    Hi,

    Do you asking the recommendation on hosting plan or hosting provider?

    I do believe a normal shared hosting plan is sufficient for you, you can just start up with a 20GB disk space shared hosting plan and slowly upgrade it to VPS and dedicated server when your forum growth.

      Take a look at Nimbus (http://www.nimbushosting.co.uk/). They specialize in vBulletin hosting, as well as Xenforo and Magento - which I've never heard of.

      I am not an affiliate of Nimbus, nor do I benefit in any way from suggesting their service. However, one of my forums is hosted with them so I do have firsthand experience with them.

    Look at hosting services from a2hosting and obhosting companies.
    They have supported all necessary scripts and applications to run forums successfully.

    All the top guys are good for vbulletin or smf or any of them you don't have to specialize on a host. I have had several forums and hostgator was just fine.

      Those are all the exact same company = EIG. And they're terrible. Congratulations, you've been duped to thinking they're seperate entities. They're not. If you want an "unlimited" host, use an indy one like Site5 or Arvixe, not the EIG "brands".

      @OP

      A forum runs best on a VPS, where you can cache and modify it. For that, I'd recommend Knownhost (managed USA), EuroVPS (managed Europe), or Ninjahawk Hosting (unmanaged). Sure, you can run it on shared hosting, but it's going to load much slower. Shared hosting is good if you're starting out, but once you get established, I'd get a proper setup.

    I have a massive Vbulletin forum and found that a lot of hosts say they support it but in reality they dont!

    I went with Servint... They are expensive but well worth every penny :-)

      True, but Nimbus is (the first?) one that specifically came into existence to be a vBulletin hosting solution. They cater to vB users, and have extensive knowledge of the product and needs of the users.

      Careful with that paintbrush, Eugene.

    I've been running my forum on the Zetaboards forum hosting system for several years. I'm very happy with the service.

    You can take a look at my site here: Australian Property Forum

    I'm interested in trying vBulletin if anyone wants to get rid of their forum. Contact me know if anyone is selling their vB license, version 4.

    Thanks!
