I wouldn't suggest justhost, they don't have a great reputation. It's ok but really mixed reviews (spent a lot of time a while ago searching for host)

If you're looking for shared hosting (which is what just host offers) you can try out stablehost (they have a good discount at $3/month for your first month on their home page)

Note: I am not affiliated to them now; although I had two account there prior

JustHost = Fatcow = about 50+ EIG "brands" = the same host.
They use vDeck, not cPanel, and it's a horrible control panel for end users. Avoid them.
Site5 and Arvixe are much better cPanel non-EIG hosts. Look there instead.

I've never used JustHost and am not trying to defend them, here, but this just isn't so: hosting companies which have been bought out by and are therefore now owned by the same group are simply not "the same host".

If you mean to suggest that in your opinion they'll all end up having the same deals, the same quality of hosting, the same customer service, the same arrangements and policies, and so on (not my opinion at all, and not what history suggests either, in my view), then that's one thing, and you're entitled to your opinion, of course ... but to announce flatly that they're "the same host" simply isn't accurate - sorry.

And when you're advertising a hosting affiliate site, yourself, in your signature file, inaccurate statements of that kind really don't come across very well, either.

Yes they are. Follow 90% of the routes back to the servers & you'll find out where they're all located, owned by the same company. Remember EIG bought HostGator, which is being moved to BlueHost, which is HostMonster, JustHost etc etc. All the people who jumped ship from the other companies, especially BlueHost, are being moved right back with a so called "upgrade".

It's been this way for YEARS however, people don't want to hear it or believe it just because the website is different.

Nothing personal (really) but my perspective is that they might perhaps be a little more interested in hearing it from customers, rather than from a succession of people openly advertising competing services in their signature-files, and not even taking the trouble to disable their signature-files when they post!

I know that you're entirely honest and ethical about such things, yourself, so I think you probably know that that's not an unreasonable perspective, really?

As it is, the conversation's on a par with those silly conversations we very occasionally still get about the alleged "merits" of spinning, with members advertising spinning software in their signature-files. People just won't take it too seriously, and who can blame them?

Understood, having been a previous customer of companies still around today and once that have disappeared, including all of the companies (mainstream) discussed on this forum.

My signature has also been disabled for my previous post.

Sorry, but you really have idea what you're talking about.

EIG has 3 sub-companies, but make no mistake, EIG still pulls the strings and makes the big decisions.

JustHost and all the other vDeck companies are nothing more than the same host with different names. Fatcow and JustHost, for example, are the same host, same datacenter, same support, etc. This is the core of EIG, and after the Netfirms fiasco (2011), I think they've finally stopped forcing vDeck on users.

Hostgator is being merged into the "newer" cPanel hosting, the post-vDeck era, which is Bluehost, HostMonster, etc. Right now, the same datacenter, hardware, etc. In time, I'd estimate support will be merged too. Bluehost has a bad reputation for crippling a lot of cPanel functionality, such as the inability to make your own backups (and thus move hosts).

The final one is ASO (ASmallOrange), the newest acquisition, with about 5-6 "brands" (all ASO hosts; same support, datacenter, etc). Early complaints are already starting to come in, and I expect it will be decimated when HG is done. This one will likely go away, being the smallest, merged into BH and/or HG at some point.

That's EIG m.o., and has been for 10+ years now. They're any equity-owned corporate monster, and maximize profits by cutting costs. It reminds me of Mitt Romney's way of "doing business" (screwing everybody, customers and workers alike, all in the name of getting a few bucks).

I'm not a host, I'm a customer. EIG has screwed me 3 times buying out my hosts, and then ruining the sites from their "upgrades" (botched migrations).

If anybody doubts this, then do some research.

You're entitled to your opinion, of course ... but to announce flatly that they're all "the same host" simply isn't accurate - sorry. And to insult people who dare to disagree with your perspective, when you're advertising a hosting affiliate site, yourself, in your signature file, really doesn't come across very well, either. When you don't even remove your sig-file from such posts, Warriors will doubtless draw their own conclusions about your motives and agenda, in this thread.

          I don't get that rational...

People, unless they start the thread, shouldn't be looked upon poorly for not turning their sigs off if it deals w/ the topic. (There are exceptions.)

This reminds me of politics.

Even when given the facts, some people think there are "sides", conspiracy (ulterior motives), call it "opinions" (when it's just boring ol' facts), and all kinds of similar nonsense. At the end of the day, however, I really don't care. The info is there for those that will read it. I've done my part trying to educate. What you do with it (or don't do with it) is your choice.

Best wishes to the OP. Hopefully you've decided on a better host.

You sure about that? When I tested them it was cPanel and they still show that cPanel is their control panel in several places on their website...

Something that I remember doing a long time ago after I got JustHost for an extra year was that after I signed up with them I went through the process of cancelling their service.

They have an automatic process that'll try to keep you as customers and they'll offer you a bunch of freebies and an extra year to keep you as a customer.

Is it shallow to do that? Maybe, but I enjoyed my extra year
