Quick Question About Funny Boxes in Thread Titles

I was wondering, why and how do some thread titles, particularly in the WSO section have funny boxes or other non-alphanumeric characters in them. How are people creating those?

I'm assuming that they are supposed to be attention grabbers, though I'm not really sure whether they highlight effectively or just distract. I'm sure the users of them have tested

Anyway, what I really wondered was, how do folks create them?

It is done by holding the alt key and typing in a character code, google for a list of them.
For example, ALT+9733 = a star ★★★★★

You could also copy and paste the symbols from ones you come across.
