I added more tags to Youtube videos and my revenue dropped in half

My first post - glad to be here! I am stumped....I added more tags to my YouTube videos and my income dropped from $10-$20 per day to less than $4 per day. I thought it was a fluke but I've made $4 a day for the past 5 days. So strange! Any ideas of what might have happened?

This is my most popular video: I give it to you just in case it helps you figure out what might be going on.

Thank you for your time!

Man usually when I add keywords my rankings are just affected with the new keywords. I've never seen that happen.
I did look at your video and as what I think that I am a pretty good expert at youtube marketing I would think you were making close to a 100 with that video.

I made $310 with all my videos last month and the vast majority of the money was on that one video. The other videos are just pulling in a few bucks.

Did the addition of those tags affect your video ranking/views. 'Cause from what I know, adding more than necessary tags might make your video less focused on a particular keyword you are trying to rank for.

      Ain't no expert here BTW...

Yes it's possible. In the past lots o tags worked but today with Google updates it appears that less is more and focused tags i.e. a select few will work better. Just IMO.

Hopefully when I delete some tags things go back to normal! Thanks for the reply!

It appears that is what happened. I'm going to delete a few and see what happens.

Yes, its a good viewer. When you decrease your tags I would use a service to increase your views at the same time, it should balance it and cause google to rethink. Do I know this for sure, heck no. Im lucky to have the videos I have at top of google lol.

I'm guessing perhaps by adding too many tags you might have loss your relevancy to other videos which you were appearing as "related videos"

How were the tags that you added? Adding too many tags doesn't necessary mean a good thing; as with SEO tags you can end up making your video seem irrelevant. Although this really depends on your analytics.

Are you experiencing the drop in traffic from your search engine or your youtube related traffic? Or perhaps if it's just the adsense CPC then maybe you're getting ads for lower CPC.

It's also hard to gauge it base on 5 days alone

i don't think tag has something to do with view counts of your video, maybe you should work more promoting your video

    few tips with your tags
    - your tags should be relevant to your video, do not add any junk tags
    - do not repeat any word more than twice, e.g. <"beautiful home" "beautiful house" "big home" "big house"> is fine, and you should not add another tag like "dream house" "dream home" "beautiful place" "big place"
    hope it helps, cheers
