Hey Warriors,

There are so many little things, tweaks, and adjustments to make to your website to rank high amongst SERPs and receive results.

I think it would be interesting to know the very first two things you do after your website is live online.

Myself, first I do a search engine submission, then, I plan out twenty to thirty articles topics to use over the next month or two.

What do you do?

I submit the site to a few directories, and then build a few content pages that I think would be related to the topic. I also make sure I have written copy that will be appealing to the buyer of my software product.

I never bother to submit my site to search engines.... i never ever see the point when i would much rather let them find me.

I get each site indexed in under 20 minutes from going live and finished an ebook explaining it all for a guy a few days ago which i think hes giving away for free in a week or so which will explain it all.

Only time i submit my site to the search engines is if it hasn't been indexed by say yahoo or ask etc yet then i manually submit to them after a week or so.

Then its just backlinks to make sure i get good high rankings.

After my site is designed and ready for traffic, I don't submit my sites to the search engines, but I do submit my sitemap to Google. I then do a quick social media and social bookmarking marketing session. Then I try to keep that ongoing everyday or every other day.

The best ways to get your site indexed within hours is via a twitter update or squidoo lense.

sit and refresh google analytics page and see if anyone visits? kidding

I start on the web 2.0 sites - squidoo, hubpages, twitter, etc. interlinking, creating rss feeds, pinging; also write several articles and put portions and diff. versions on above.

I am now holding off on a blog until I see if a campaign is going to move or not.

      The very first two things?

      1. Open a cold'n'foamy, sit back and let my eyes focus on the outside world again.

      2. Announce the opening in a few strategic places.

Once the site is actually indexed, it's time to start up the heavy lifting again.

I have to agree. A beer is the only thing that will get me up early in the afternoon. The quote in your sig is thought provoking also. "The optimist says the glass is half full. The pessimist says the glass is half empty. The engineer says the glass is twice as big as it needs to be." Of course to a real philosopher those are all just tedious details. The important thing is that it is beer in the glass and the more the better. Work might be complicated but at least beer is simple.

For a site, install Google Analytics, a little social bookmarking and communicating.

How have your results been with Directory Bot?

I was looking around a few of the directory submission programs and with a lot of them you need to manually change between sites.

I don't think mass directory submission is worth the time investment so I wouldn't bother unless it was 90% automated.

Have you found that Directory Bot can basically run itself whilst you're using your time elsewhere?

If it's 4 in the morning, I usually go for the zzzzzzzzzzz too. Otherwise it's write a couple articles to submit to several directories and create a Squidoo lens. Then I Tweet and begin doing a lot of things that everyone does. One thing I do that isn't mentioned a lot is surf Traffic Exchanges. I always make a splash page that has a button to open in a new window, and put it in 10 to 20 TE's. I surf about 6 or 7 at a time. It works!

    2. Change it again.

I draw out a blueprint for how I am going to market my website using article marketing. I'll also pay a service to submit my website to the website directories, usually about 100 each week.

I don't do any active promoting for the first few days. I write one or two posts a day, and slowly build up the content. I also create an XML sitemap and set it up on my Google Webmaster Tools account. If the site is not indexed within a week I'll submit it to a few social bookmarking sites like Digg, Jumptags etc. Eventually it will show up and the traffic starts to roll in.

I think SE submission is a waste of time. It doesn't get you indexed faster so why bother.

I bookmark the site in several places, create a video (bookmark that too). Rinse, repeat. Well, that's a high level view of what I do. I try to have the first month planned out already by the time the site is "live." That makes things a lot less hectic.

I wait.. and if it get less than 1000 visitors on the first day, I slump back, call the project a failure, and then I go register a new domain name and start all over again.

But seriously, here's what I do:

    1) Start researching topics to post about.

    2) Start posting good quality content for my (future) visitors and forget about the search engines.
