Hi guys

I have a little question for you but I am not sure whether this is the right place to post it, oh well! I was just doing some keyword research (not really done this before) and I came across a keyword that has 1600 monthly searches, so I out those words in quotes in google and it came back with 15,300 matches but only 1 advert on the right hand side. Can someone tell me if this is a good keyword or not.

Also rather than me posting these random questions on WF probably annoying the hell out of people, does anyone know of a 'newbie' forum where I can post to my hearts conetent question after quiestion lol??

Thanks
Jacqui

I dont know if they have a newbie forum on this site, somebody else might know, or you could ask a senior member or one of the admin's. But that keyword sounds pretty good too me.

    Jacqui,

This thread is probably going to be moved here: Adsense / PPC / SEO Discussion Forum

That is where SEO related questions and discussions take place. To answer your question based on what you said, it could be a yes and no.

The keyword you found could be something mainly for research purposes which is no good. If it's a "buying" keyword, something that people are searching for and will mostly likely end with a purchase, then yeah, it's a good keyword to go after.

Have you tried to see how many actually use the keyword in the title? This is additional factor to consider.

To do this, just open up google.com and type into the field:

    intitle:"keyword phrase"
Don't do this too many times or Google will think you're a bot and will block your IP for quite a few hours.

You've certainly got a good keyword as far as searches and competition, but I would wonder a bit at only seeing one paid ad. That could either mean that no one else has found this keyword phrase (unlikely) or simply that it's not a profitable keyword, i.e. people using this keyword phrase to search are not buyers.

Are there products that you can sell that you can target this keyword for?

The only real way to know is to give it a try and see if you get any success out of it.

If you want, I can have a look and give you my opinion on it. PM me if you like. (Don't worry, I wouldn't have time to steal your keyword even if I wanted too! )

You can post newbie questions here. Are you using the google tool? Sometimes it can be off in monthly searches but also no keyword tool is perfect either. It is probably a good sign that there is at least one advertiser.
It does look like you have found a good one, I would go for it and see what happens.

    Hi guys

Thanks for the replies. There are products that could be sold using these keywords however I think it will take a lot of work to get something up and going in ordre to then generate sales. But hey ho as they say Rome wasnt built in a day:-)

Go test out the keyword, use PPC or just setup a simple page on squidoo, bookmark it and see if the traffic is good (in 1 week or 2 should rank), then decide to build better site for it!
