Crazy long dating product videos?

It seems that EVERY successful dating product on clickbank sends buyers to an extremely long video (often times where you cannot even click Buy until watching the whole thing). I am new to internet marketing, but is this really by far the most efficient way to sell these type of products? Or are people all copying one product (tao of badass comes to mind) that does this without really even trying anything different? Why does this work? I can't even sit through a single one of these videos to the end.

These type product sells because of attraction. The more you can attract people with the magic of your words, they are more likely to buy your products. This is why most of the dating products have got long long intro videos.

Thanks, that's an interesting point. I thought maybe it had to do with it being a model that affiliates are more likely to pick up (i.e. it has more chance to convert on the spot vs having the buyer go back to the site directly at a later date not through the affiliate?)

I think there's commonly a very substantial element of this; yes.

These sales "techniques", if they're marketed well enough when they're new, by the service providers to internet marketers, can sometimes take people in so much that they become more or less self-fulfilling, with a critical mass of marketers assuming "Everyone wouldn't be using these if they didn't work". Many people don't test adequately at all.

A few marketers in that niche state openly that they have tested it - and those are of course the ones not using it.

There are also some very successful affiliates in that niche who refuse - after their own testing - to send their traffic to those pages.

Neither can I, but that doesn't matter.

What matters is whether the prospective customers can. But as it so happens, many of them can't, either.
