Staples became the first major retailer to announce that it would carry 3-D printers, putting the technology in the hands of the masses for about $1,300.
This article has several very good points about 3D-printing.

Improving 3-D Printing by Copying Nature

"But Joe, why are you putting this in the Main forum? Isn't this about making money online?"

A Joe Mobley Prediction: There will be WSO's and threads here at the WF related to making money with 3D-Printers Within One Year!

This is breath-taking stuff.

I can see where some industries will be put out of business. Some countries may have their finances threatened.

I can see where other industries will be created and explode.

I can see where some companies will try to outlaw some products from being printed.

Background check for a gun. I think I'll just print my own.

I could see a huge market in 3-D printer files.

Would the iPhone 7 ship with multiple 3-D print files so you can choose your own case design?

Naked products? The XBox [or whatever works for you] ships with no case but with a collection of 3-D print files so you can print, or create your own.

New WSO section?

What will those clever folks at Fiverr.com come up with?

Will your clients be able to 3-D print from your website?

What are some of your ideas regarding 3-d printing?

Oh, Will 3D Printing Change the World? Yes! Big time.

Hey Joe, do you know a lot about these? I've been wanting to get one of these, but I want something quality, I see all of these different printers but they all tend to have bad reviews except the really cheap ones (low expectations therefore fewer complaints?)

There are two things I want to do:

    1. Make a plastic gun that actually fires. The plans are still out there
    2. Make a replica Iron Man suit. I actually have the 3D models for this.

      Ron,

I think you are pulling my leg a bit here buddy. Really? Iron Man.

But... no I don't. Maybe I should as I think 3D-Printers and (one other technology) are going to be massive in the near future.

      Sorry,

Supposedly the actual suit used in filming for Ironman 3 was created with a 3D printer, one piece at a time, then painted and assembled. It would be a hit at a Halloween party for sure.

IDK about anyone else but those would probably be the first two things I would make!

I grumble slightly every time I have to replace a conventional printer cartridge. I shudder to think of the amount of consumables involved in printing out a 3d replica Iron Man suit

I would not want to print a gun that actually fires, either. I'd want to print out $1,300 3D printers all day long

3D printing is going to be a HUGE market. It's already big in manufacturing products, but once it becomes available to the general public, setting up an Amazon store offering the printers might not be a bad idea

    LOL

I just watched an episode of Futurama where Bender had his brain transmitting wireless signals to a 3D printer, therefore creating all kinds of havoc in 3013.

These things are awesome. Technology is awesome. Hopefully, we won't destroy ourselves or create some kind of economic collapse before everybody can buy one of these and print out all kinds of cool things.

I don't remember where I saw this, but there was some HUGE sort of 3D "printer" that could actually lay down the basic structure of a house (walls floors, roof, etc) in a few hours.

Maybe I can print a printer. I have to buy a new printer about every 2 months. Hp printers are such crap to me. I'm gonna try epson or brother next breakdown.

Just amazing stuff... thanks for sharing Joe. I checked out the 3D milling machines a few years back... but these 3D printers really will put product development into a whole new timeframe. The possibilities are breath-taking.

Exciting times ahead. When 3d printers become more reliable and cheaper, millions will buy them. Time will tell, though.
