Press releases are good. I have seen a lot of companies start off building their brand by using it.

Check in the war room, there are lot of free stuff there that will help you build your online brand.

Search engine media is a best way. Use ad campaign, Social media optimization, Search engine optimization, local marketing, email marketing etc.

Building a brand is not as easy as it may seem, but it's doable. If you need a faster solutions, you really should consider paying for solution to companies that are doing exactly what you need.
But first do the math, know to the point your financial calculations, or you may end up paying over your head.

That involves setting an intellectual and/or emotional expectation by the mention of a name.

It's going to require multiple exposures to you and your product multiple times, or one heck of a good first impression to create that high expectation.

Branding is an interesting piece in marketing...

The way I look at it; your products and/or services you provide and the way(s) you provide them IS your biggest leverage in branding yourself.

For example, if you sell poop in a box, even if it is in a luxurious package, it will still not be appreciated by most people (people don't want to buy crap so to speak) and this would be bad branding.

Another example, if you sell something people want and you deliver it in a very enjoyable way to them, they will appreciate it more and have a great "consumer experience" and this will influence the way they view you and your products/services and suddenly you are "branding" yourself!

My business, as far as I have it right now, is based on excellent high quality results and very fast delivery. This builds my brand and brands me as "high quality and very fast", and as long as I can keep this, the stronger that branding will grow in people's mind.

In other words, I would view branding as a way of building your reputation, although branding is a lot more than that, including building a personality, a creature and such around your company and/or products and/or services.

However, that usually costs tons of money and at the end of the day, people are looking for results, not logos to admire! ;-)
