Sales Funnel or Website w/ Opt-in

Hey Warriors,

I'm using optimizepress to set up a a life coaching site. I currently don't have a list and was wondering if I should set it up as a sales funnel starting with a squeeze page that leads to the actual site or simply create a website with a opt-in form in the side bar.

Build a squeeze page, make it as your homepage.

And then put a link to your blog/articles part of the site on the navigation bar.

Yes, exactly! I was in the process of doing that and had trouble with the permalinks. Do you have any idea how I get the home page to just end in .com without the forward slash and page title?

      I want: mywebsite.com

      Not: mywebsite.com/page-title

I was able to do it before on another site I created and forgot how I made it work without the post name after the domain.

You can do this on your settings tab. There is a section where you can determine what page displayed on your main domain.

Hmm, I would probably focus on having your blog as the main homepage on your domain. People landing on your site because of your content are going to be much more targeted. You can then have an optin offer in the sidebar and also in an exit pop.

Then place your squeeze page in a subfolder and you can drive any paid traffic directly to the squeeze page if you want to. But a squeeze page as your homepage offers very little to none SEO value.

I have to agree with Will R on this one too.

^^This in my opinion. You'll get more leads this way. Having an opt-in form on the sidebar will help, but it wont be the main attraction due to all of the content that you will have on your site.

I say skip the squeeze page and just offer something at a low price on the front-end. You'll get less people in your sales funnel but they're less likely to be 'tire kickers' too.

Would you walk up to a girl at the bar and ask her for her number before you meet, talk, share a few laughs?

That's what you are really advising by putting a squeeze page as the entry into your core site.

What I would suggest is that your main site shares various pieces of content with strategically placed opt-in forms as part of or near the content you offer.

What you CAN do to be more aggressive is to put together special offers - free training programs, reports, videos, etc...and then offer a squeeze page into that content to which you can bring on affiliates/jv's who can send you "warm" traffic toward a very specific offer with some pre-selling.

I am in somewhat of a similar niche. I would rather have a relationship with my readers. It's that trusting relationship that is going to keep my readers coming back time and again to buy products. I want them to see me as an authority in my industry and the go to person when they need answers. Produce valuable content consistently, build their trust, build a relationship and they will opt in.

Think of it in terms of a marathon rather than a sprint.
