How do I not feelbad for not doing a million things at once

I am trying to get into this business, but I believe that the mentality that I have is bad for me. I just can't help but to feel if I don't do a million things a day or work 16 hour days that I will not be successful. What happens is I try to do to many things at once and I burnout and turn off the computer till the next day. I feel guilty if I do something that seems easy and not hard. I feel if I use automation or outsourcers that I am lazy, for some reason I just cannot shake this feeling. How do I convince myself that I do not have to do a million things per day or work 16 hour days to make progress and that automating/outsourcing stuff that I do not like or to multiply my efforts does not mean that I am not doing everything I can to try and succeed.

Keep in mind that often people that make far more than you do (so far) probably work less than you do. You just need to get a clear vision of what you want to be "when you grow up" (or when your business matures), and then set simple achievable goals that you can accomplish each day.

I started my business around 2001, and it took me a couple of years to start making money, but it all started with a vision of what I wanted, and with simple tasks that I did each day that got me closer.

I would recommend doing less, but planning carefully what you do so that you choose those tasks that will be most effective in reaching your goals.

So work smarter, not harder, and develop your vision.

You can first start by WRITING down your goals and then writing down the steps to get there. Once you have the steps, write down the actions to get there. Keep breaking them down into the smallest possible way without being too anal.

You have to understand that time is money. You don't have to know everything and you don't have to do everything. Just because you use software, outsourcing and take shortcuts doesn't mean that you are lazy. You're working smart. Everyone only has 24 hours in the day and you should take advantage of the time you DO have.

It doesn't mean to work 16 hours a day, but to do what you can. You should be able to wake up each morning thinking about what you're going to do to further yourself and your business then go to bed each night thinking about what you've done to further yourself and your business.

Feeling guilty and sorry for yourself isn't going to help. Self-pity or sympathy from others also isn't going to help. You need to seriously dig down and determine WHY you want to do this. And let me tell you, don't let money be the reason. Fast cars isn't it neither. Dig deeper. Good luck.

Hummm... I suggest that you *first* try what you suggest. I think you'll last as long as trying a hunger strike.

Then try moderation. Otherwise, you're simply killing the point of working at your pc and making a good living.

Please, do tell how you progress.
    & Success,

    phoenix,
Sounds like info overload, I've had it for 3 years and it's been the main reason I haven't done as well as I would have liked to.

I recently was given some advice that I am starting to use: Find one successful IM with real products that actually fill a need for people. Start following him/her only. Research them and their products thoroughly. Make sure they will answer support personally and promptly. Use their product(s) and affiliate with this individual. When stuck go to them only, if you have chosen a good IM they will either handle your needs or point you in the right direction. One thing I added myself is anyone I affiliate with has to have a system in place that provides instructions as: 1 do this, 2 do this next, 3 etc. Keeps me focused and so far is making a great change for me.

One other thing I suggest [that may or maynot be a distraction for you, it was a real time killer for me] is unsubcribe from all but maybe 2 or three list To much temptation [for me anyway] to check out everything that comes along.

Also it might be helpful to list one thing to accomplish per day. If you get it done great, if not stay on it each day till completed. Try to focus on ONE task at a time till finished. For me this ain't easy, but I'm learning. All this has basically dictated I start over from scratch, which I think is going to be a good thing for me.

One of my biggest productivity boosters is: only one task at a time. Multi-tasking is not good for business.

It seems as if you're being way too hard on yourself. You know what you have to do, it's a simple matter of doing what you know. You will achieve some success and if you approach that right it will spur you to build upon that success and grow your business even further.

As has been said, multitasking is NOT the way to go. Focus on one job at a time. This is by far the most efficient and effective use of your time and resources.

At the moment you have an unnecessary and unhealthy amount of guilt about your workload (or supposed lack of it) I'd say you need to address this in whatever way you can and you'll begin to feel better about yourself. Get over this this hurdle and the world could be your oyster.

Thanks for the advice. Sometimes it's just hard to control though. But I
am getting better. This IM thing really is not that hard if you are willing to do a little research. Also the thing about being on all those mailing list was dead on. I get offeres for the latest and greatest every day. Just when I have come up with the backlinking strategy that I am going to use to steadily build my serps next thing you know something comes along telling me all the reasons why it will not work. I think napoleon hill said it best. Successful people make decisions quickly and take a long time to change. Unsuccessful people make decisions slowly and change plans frequently.
