How to drive traffic through WF posts? (Question for the seasoned warriors)

Hi Warriors,

This question is for the seasoned warriors and the ones who drive insane amounts of traffic specifically from posting to WF.

Okay, so I've always heard that WF and forums in general is a great way to drive traffic and build your list.

I believe that, but I'm more so interested in driving traffic via posting threads and replies in the forum for free rather than spending money to post a WSO.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm not afraid to spend money. I've purchased a few WSO's and I've driven quite a bit of traffic by posting free WSO's; however, I want to know what's the best way for my posts to gain traction and get a ton of views and "thank you's"?

I've posted several of what I believe to be helpful threads that are lengthy, in-depth and share some great and unique content. However, none of them have really gotten the traction that I thought it should.

When I attempt to promote those posts within WF by replying to other question threads and linking to my post, I'll get a "banned warning" for linking to them.

What am I missing? Am I doing something wrong here?

If you all could give me some pointers and share your best practices for creating popular threads, getting lots of views and "thank yous" on them, and ultimately lots of traffic from WF posts, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Ti

If you're looking for likes and thank yous.. you're off to a good start.

I posted a really good SEO report in the war room a few years ago and got a ton of thanks from that one post. If you've got some great content to share for free.. that's a pretty easy way to get a bunch of likes.

If you're linking back to pages where you've given traffic advice, mods might see it as you promoting your sig and not the content you've shared. I've never interlinked any of my content though, so I'm not sure.

You also asked about getting a bunch of eye balls on your posts, and for that I'd recommend starting threads every day in different sections and seeing what works best for you. There's really no easy answer there, or we'd all be doing it!

Yes, you are posting lengthy threads and they have become somewhat hohum to most readers. (not yours per say, but all lengthy threads).

As much as you may wish to share your passions, skills and experiences etc, most people will just give you thanks for posting it, and move on, or you will see one or two folks try to top your wisdom with theirs, and from there the thread simply dies.

I noticed that many popular threads have one, two or three simple sentences or less. The interaction comes from a really valid, or really stupid (valid or stupid being relative) question posed, or any statement that triggers an emotion.

Try posting something like: "All warrior forum members are stupid!" and see if it beats your book of wisdom thread. No I don't suggest you make that post, I'm just making a point.

Having said all that, don't just post to get traffic.

Post in order to sincerely add something valuable to the forum.

The problem is in your philosophy. You are posting to get something from others...clicks on your signature. You have to give, give, give before you can ask for anything in return.

You should post helpful responses to questions. Well thought out. Well written. That will get you some click through traffic.

However, the posts that generally get the most "thanks" and most likely the most click throughs are posts that, are you ready for it...give something away.

Something that would be in a short report or a giveaway. There are many of those posts here. And a new one almost every day.

I assume, though I could be wrong, that the OP wants likes and clicks. To build a persona. To be seen as a trusted advisor. To make more WSO sales. To build a reputation.

It's OK to want clicks and sales, but that shouldn't be your focus. Give away a ton of value first, and the clicks, likes and sales will follow. Not the other way around.

Here are some examples for you. I have no idea the reason behind why any of these threads were started. But that's not the point. The point is that they all give away something very useful and helpful to others. And, you'll notice, they all have a bunch of "likes". This is not coincidence.

The best way to drive traffic from forums it to contribute good qaulity information. Create post that offers a solution and build a group of "followers"

    Yes.

Your reason for posting here (by your own admission) is to attract traffic, rather than to participate in the community, chat, gossip, engage, learn, and so on.

    And it shows.

Many Warriors kind of resent that, in a way. My guess is that in addition to getting "ban warnings", that's also the reason some of the threads you start off get deleted so quickly by the moderators.

If your purpose in being here is to attract traffic, personally I think you should buy ads.

Sorry; but you did ask whether you're doing something wrong. And you are, and doing it rather blatantly - if you're getting "ban warnings" then clearly you are; without even knowing you, I knew what you were doing wrong and why, straight away, just from recognising your posts.

Just be aware that quite a bit has been removed, from here, so you can't check it. That's part of the problem being discussed ...

Honestly , and dont take this the wrong way, but your whole attitude is wrong. The WF isnt a place for you to post lots of stuff just to drive traffic. You should post helpful stuff because you want to be a part of the community not because you want to drive traffic. I mean that just makes you look bad anyway. Like your not really trying to be a part of the Warrior community your just trying to have personal gain only.

You could put a link in your sig, thats permitted (provided its not an affiliate link) however if you really want to get traffic spring for a WSO.
