Facebook ads -> Facebook page. What required budget should I expect?

Hi guys,

I'm building an authority website already a week, and publishing at least one quality article every day. I've decided to not concentrate on google, but rather build my audience through facebook page. So today I'm planning to shoot out some first ads. I only share my website articles on my facebook page and hoping to get some quality traffic from there and build on like that.

My target markets would be english speaking countries(US,Canada mainly and maybe UK and Australia later). I don't want to give out my niche, but would really like to get a clue of what should I expect. I was googling about it and found some really diversified info about it.

So, do you have a gross number of how many likes can I expect for 1$ invested in facebook ads? I have found one topic about that on WF, and some on other websites, but the numbers are so badly diversified that I'm pretty lost at the moment. Someone is getting like 10likes/1$, others are as bad as 0,5likes/1$.

Anyone with experience here?

Depending on your call to action it will vary. If you are just promoting a regular post you shouldn't expect to get much from that at all. If you are giving something away, or you have something funny/viral, etc, you can expect more. To expect 10 likes for each $1 is CRAZY IMO.

You can only get these answers by trying. Spend $50 and see what happens.

If you target your audience better you will get higher CTR and more followers. You will also need to share content that people would actually like.

You are not buying followers. You are advertizing to reach them. So it is impossible to even guess how they will respond.

I will promote my page, not just one post, which is filled with useful posts for that niche. I will upload one article every day from now on and these articles will be shared on my promoted facebook page at the same time. I'm expecting to drive targeted traffic to my website like that and expect people to return there almost everyday when they see new articles being posted. I have calculated that I would be pretty happy with 2 likes per 1$, is that even possible?

Facebook requires a lot of testing before you can really drive down your costs.

It's going to depend on the CTR and the conversion rate for likes on your page.

Just like anyone else advertising on FB it's going to be a game of testing images and ad copy for the most part.

All I can say is that using interaction with the Facebook users seing your ads will help a lot The rest is up to you.

    Test, Test and Test.

    Hi,

Sounds like you have a good strategy going there.

When I start a Facebook Ad to promote a Fan Page I always start on a low budget just to test the waters, I then tweak or increase the budget depending on 7 days worth of results.

There really is no way to tell how many 'Likes' you'll get until you apply your budget, ad copy, ad image etc as I would have thought those factors are variable and will have an impact of 'Likes'.

But I'm no expert on Facebook Ads, I just start low, tweak or increase based on results.

    Hope that helps somewhat.

Yeah, that sounds like a reasonable goal! Make sure you test a lot for each campaign you make and run the sucessfull ones as long as they are still effective.

Also make sure to learn from previous sucesses and failures.

A lot of your followers will hopefully come from your existing user-base activity on your future posts so it should grow exponentaly.

Thanks guys for encouragement. That's what I need at the moment when really starting to get my feet wet in IM for the first time.

I will probably do some mini tests tommorow, or even later today to see what I can expect. I'm planning to make 5ads at first, get the winner out of those 5, then create 4new ones and launch them with the winner and see if I can get a new winner. Rinse and repeat.

Maybe I will share some results here after doing that first micro test, as from my personal experience, there are not too much information about that on the web and I will do that being totally blind :>

When I started with Facebook, I was having 2-3 likes per $1 but after lots of testing [changing images, texts and also deeply analysing demographic reports] now I get 10-15 likes for $1 [depends on different factors such as age, location etc]

I think the best answer you would get is to spend some initial money in it and see how it goes.

I personally always test with $5 per day budget using CPM pricing. I also target the same countries and my result is around $0.10 per like for promoting my supplement fan page.

Like someone said here previously, article posts don't work to well in fan pages. Funny or motivational pictures work best.

Datingworld and hansdavid, thanks for some real numbers here, these looks really promising, and as I have already stated before, I would be satisfied with much less than you guys. I will stick with articles only on my page for a while, as in this niche I can't just post funny images :> Will think about motivational pictures, thanks for some ideas guys.
