Women 'in denial' .....just like some IM'ers

This is mind-boggling!! Women spend up to £650 buying summer outfits that don't fit because they refuse to admit how much they have put on weight over the winter.

Women 'in denial' over winter weight gain spend £650m on clothes that don't fit | Mail Online

I thought that was mental until I realised that a lot of IM'ers do this too.

In my short time here, I have seen some members who are going to be doing article marketing one minute, CPA the next and they seem to be jumping from one thing to another and no-doubt buying information products along the way.

I am sure that a lot of them do absolutely nothing with the information and leave it sitting on their hard drive just like the women who hang their non-fitting clothes in the wardrobe and will never wear them.

Just like the women who have to face up to their real size and buy clothes that actually fit and that they can wear, some IM'ers need to be honest with themselves. They need to create a business plan that they can stick to and not be distracted by anything else.

    Hi Gary

    I always apply the 24 hour rule - whether its a $7 purchase or a $1997 purchase.

I sit on my credit card for 24 hours and then come back - if I still want it and think it will benefit me, I buy it.

I also pick up every free report I find.

I then have a series of files on my desktop.

Unread, Part Read, Finished and PLR. This helps me keep track of the information I have used, and also helps me keep resources I can give to my list in the future!

We are all students - so the more information we can take in. the better!

    Regards

    Dave

      Hi Dave

That is really sensible advice and a good tip regarding the 24 hour rule.

      Hi Dave;

I like the 80/20 rule but I hadn't been using it with credit card and buying products. I'm implement it now. Also great tip about downloading to your desktop. I have been creating files and making notes in the files.

So working out a system with this, but your tips helps a lot.

Now I'll know when files are still sitting on my desktop I need to work with them (either take action by implementing a strategy or read it and file into a to do folder) to be used at a later date.

If you are fairly new to the internet business you might be apt jump around a little because you are learning new things that are available that you didn't know existed. Lots of people would like to do something on the internet but they don't know where to start because they have no idea what people are looking for, as they learn they try new things. As far as the skinny clothes, that is simply part of our dream world. I have seen many men with a lot of tools in the shed have never been used.

Aha. So it is really just a cunning plan used by women to get new clothes.

Dave, I also have a 24 hour rule with pretty much no exceptions. I think over everything before I buy it no matter how expensive it is. So I guess "buy now" copy doesn't work on me and I never go for OTOs.

I find OTO are just scarcity tactics to improve conversions.

If I am interested in the product - I just bookmark the page, I'm sure they would rather have my business than not - so let me think about it first!

The upside of women in denial:

I buy clothes at a local resale shop and find expensive items with store tags still attached - and I pay cents on the dollar for my size 4-6 that does fit! I love those larger women in denial and hope they keep shopping:p

        When it relates to marketing:

For every new marketer jumping from one "secret they don't tell you" to another, there is an experienced marketer with good sales of his IM products

I recall Alex Mandossian some while back saying that he never buys any marketing product unless he can put it to use immediately for what he's working on right now.

Since hearing that, I've tried (sometimes successfully) to follow that rule. When I do, it helps me stay on focus and out of the pogo stick business model.

    Ah, yes. Women... Clothing... Springtime...

Did you say something about IM? I wasn't listening. I was thinking about women.

I think I've discovered why I lack focus.

You're absolutely right about sticking with just one plan. What's that old saying? "Jack of all trades and master of none." We need to concentrate on one thing and master it before we move on to anything else.

On the subject of women and clothes...How can I convince my wife that it's unreasonable that she has 2 and a half closets while I'm stuck with just half of one?

I just showed your post to my wife and asked for her help.

She said, "What's unreasonable about that?"

People are looking for the magic bullet.

    That's all it is.

Whether the magic bullet is buying new clothing
in the hope it will be the thing that finally makes
them put in the effort to drop some pounds...

Or buying the latest and greatest IM product
because it promises to make them money even
faster than whatever else they were thinking
    about working on...

A lot of people in the IM niche pin all their hopes
on their very next product purchase... because
doing that is easier than admitting they're never
really going to get started with anything...

So it's always "the next one will help, the next
    on will help"

    ...ad infinitum.

    Sad but true.

    Hi Gary,

This was an excellent post. I use to be one of those IM'er's! You are exactly right without a business plan you are setting yourself up for failure. I love the quote: "Those who fail to plan, plan to fail."

For me it was matter of closing my mind off to all the "hype" and make a decision about what path I was going to take with my business & then stick with that plan no matter what!

It's not easy when you have eveyone sending you emails daily saying this is the next hot product because you're on all the lists. Call me gullable or they're all writing excellent copy take your pick.

You get there because you're on everyone's email list and because you attempting to learn all you can about the business (instantly) which is silly, because nothing good happens over night.

I heard Zig Ziglar tell a story of an overnight success. Someone in the audience said "WOW you became successful overnight", Zig's response was "yes it only took me twenty years to get here".

In the beginning you don't know who to listen to. So you go here and do a little of this & then you go there and do a little of that.

What happens you never get any momentum going because you are constantly going from one stragedy to another and never allowing any of it to work.

So I've been there and did just that and now finally I've arrived to the place where I'm "FOCUSED" and I know that it's just a matter of time before I get to where I want to be with my business because I am following a plan.

Thanks guys here at the forum for being there!

You hit the nail on the head!

Before I joined this forum, I
    lurked around to figure out
exactly what I wanted to do.

    Then I got the necessary
training in order to be the best
    I could be.

    No regrets. No looking back.

    I decided early on that I wouldn't
try to tackle everything at once.

    Good advice here!

This could be those IM'ers is having information overload. They don't want to miss a single new information or product release in the market till they don't know which what they should consider first.
