I will start with sharing a simple tip.

Use search or advanced search, it's already optimized.

you can also click the Quick Links menu below your name in the top left, and click subscribed threads, that way you can see all the threads you've participated in and dont have to weed through pages to find it. I don't remember if thread subscribing is set on by default or not, but you can go to User CP > Edit Options > then under the Messaging & Notifications section select how you would like to subscribe to the threads you post in.

Hm, I've never used the tag section... I think you just have to post things that people are interested in. If people are interested, they'll reply and your post won't get lost in the shuffle. If your post isn't interesting, there's nothing you can do to save it...

Using the tags is a very good idea, but you want to be careful beyond that, at least in the discussion sections. If the titles and content of your posts start looking like SE-bait, they'll be deleted. If it's too often or too extreme, you might end up going away with them.

You can push that a fair bit further in your blog. That doesn't affect the ability of members to carry on conversations. Just keep in mind that they still need to read well for humans.

The best way to optimize a thread in this forum is to start with clear subject lines for your threads. Add the tags to your post. And then make sure you make the topic interesting and useful enough to generate significant conversation without you gratuitously bumping the thread. (Bumping gets threads deleted every day.)
