Best ways to promote traffic?

Hey guys,

As a complete newbie to the affiliate marketing I'm still looking for tips out there. I'm following numerous courses and reading numerous books, but it never hurts to ask for a little tip or two from the more successful guys out there.

So if anyone has any suggestions or examples in how to promote traffic for a blog/website (a free way of course, I'd like to try and generate a little traffic and see what works than jump into paying for traffic) then please let me know what's worked best for you.

Thanks, Chris

Social media rocks. Videos are also a great traffic source.

best way to promote products from your traffic is through email marketing.

It has been proven it takes showing the same person, a product 5-8 times before they will puchase from you.

This means over 90% of people that visit your website, will leave without ever buying.

If you instead, capture your visitors email address, if they do not buy the product you are offering -- you can keep providing them with free information and promote other products they may want to buy, in your follow up emails.

If they do purchase from you -- then you have a very strong prospect who you know is willing to spend money, as long as you keep their best interest at heart and send them to high quality products.

I agree with MKCookins on building your own list of subscribers. Whatever traffic sources I uses, I will always drive it to my squeeze page or my website which has opt in form in it. This will ensure that I will be able to communicate with them through email. From a recent stats that I have seen from one website, email marketing still gives the best ROI.

When you consider Twitter, Facebook & Linkedin. From my multiple tests twitter proved to bring the most amount of traffic.

But my most favourite traffic methods as of now are Youtube & Slideshare. They rock as they are both high PR, rank quickly on top of Google and can easily bring hundreds of visitor within a few days.

I read some great things on here and they're all good. Especially YouTube, which I haven't tried myself yet but am willing to try. But what about podcasting? That's something that I'm currently working on to drive more traffic to my site.

@ChrisMillward, try them all and test them out.

You see, different people have different suggestions. It's common because that's what works best for them. Don't get confuse, choose a method by their suggestions, stick with it and continue...........

*Write guest posts for other sites which will attract traffic to your site.
*Social Networking.Facebook as well is an excellent site too for raising your sites traffic.
*Forums are a good way of advertising your site to the masses. If you were to put a link to your site/article in the signature bit of your profile then every time you make a post this link will be visible.

My favorite source of traffic is via Affiliates. Although my belief that this is the best converting traffic on the web maybe be moot, I think I have a good case to argue.

Create good products and course and offer them to potential affiliates as a bonus gifts. Create a squeeze page and a graphic(outsource) image to give to your JV partner. Ask them to link the squeeze URL to the image and place it inside the members area. When they get buyers in some will subscribe to access your bonus gifts. I've done this twice and added 500+ buyers on the back-end of my JV partners. :-)
