How many visitors to IM niche site for sales?

I've been over this forum a thousand times, and this question probably cant be answered, but I'll give it a shot.

I have had a website in the IM niche for 4 years now, and have just recently gotten back into IM. Alot of things have changed over the years, one of which seems to be the sales!

In the IM niche, (I am an article marketer), should I be looking for 100 visitors a day, or more like 800+ a day? Are people still seeing sales in the IM niche? I've gotten my Alexa ranking down from 8 million+ in Feb. of this year, to now just over 1 million. I have a small list building, am not doing that as often as I chould, but I don't want to lose subscribers at this point in time.

I dont know what else to do, except maybe I am in the wrong ballpark with traffic figures? I have been writing articles for others, so have not been working on my own site. I have no problem writing, just want to know what traffic per day #'s I should be reaching for.
