I thought I had posted a question on this earlier but I can't find it so not sure it posted accurately...so I apologize if this is a repost. If I am looking at Google Adwords for number of searches...and I enter weight loss... I see tons of results.. to many to optimize for. So I look at other weight loss phrases. I read one report that said look for at least 1500 searches a month on a given phrase..but that does not seem like alot. I realize that competition has to be considered also......just want an idea of how many keyword searches is enough to consider optimizing for that phrase. Thoughts? For example.... Weight loss……5,000,000 Healthy weight loss……..60,500 Free weight loss…………..110,000 Weight loss results…………6,600 |

honestly i like to target longer tail keywords. They may only get 100 searches per month, but that roughly translates into 1 sale each month. And they are soooo much easier to rank for some long tail keywords get 20k searches a month, just have to find them |

| I know this isn't a direct answer to your question but make sure you learn about keyword match types in the Google keyword tool. The phrase "weight loss" gets only (!) 670,000 searches per month when you select an exact match. I'd be willing to bet that most people who sing and dance about Google (the company that analyses and records every little thing) supposedly being wrong are working from a broad match. Tommy. |

| Look at the headings above the keyword results (Estimated ad position, Estimate Avg. CPC, etc.) and, on the right hand-side, you'll see a heading called, "Match Type" with a drop-down menu. Activate the drop-down menu and you'll see options caled, "Broad", "Phrase", "Exact", and "Negative". Select "Exact" and the results will change by themselves. |
