What is the cheapest freelance site like odesk etc?

I have a company that wants to send me regular work and we are just working out the best way for them to pay me.

I'm looking for the service that will work out the cheapest for my employer. I want to be able to draw it straight out onto my credit card. Or Paypal.

Why don't you just deal with them direct and invoice them via PayPal?

yea, this is what came to my mind first just send them an invoice via paypal and if it is the same amount of money every time then send them an invoice subscription through paypal so you dont have to bother sending them an invoice everytime.

Invoicing apps like Harvest should help you. You can see a full list of invoicing apps on GetApp.

it really depends on what you are buying and from where.

usually cheapest i found for certain type of services is fiverr.com
for certain type of works which require supervision, i just use dp, put in my thread, offering a certain amount, and voila, i get a flood of PM's

I mainly use oDesk, but I must say, in my experience the cheap employees are a lot worse than the more expensive ones. It's really frustrating to work with someone that doesn't answer your emails, doesn't get the job done in time etc. If you spend some more these things will happen a lot less .

Do they need to track the time you work? If not you can just invoice them through PayPal. Or if you want to get fancy you invoice them through Freshbooks. Since technically they are your only client Freshbooks would be free (they let you have three clients for free).

ODesk charges 10% to the employer.

I don't think most of the people who replied understood what I was asking. I have an employer living in Australia (I'm in the UK) who is going to be hiring me for ongoing sporadic work.

They want to find the easiest way to pay me which has the smallest margins.

From the feedback it seems like invoicing them and then payment direct into Paypal will be the easiest.

Does anybody know what paypal charges for these types of transactions?

Unless you fear he won't pay you, I'd bill directly through PayPal (I see someone already answered you with the fees link).

If you fear he won't pay you, I'd consider setting up private projects through Elance. At least there you'd have some protection through escrow and possible arbitration, if needed.

It ultimately comes down to how you feel about your relationship with said client, though. I have had very little problem with people paying directly through PayPal. Make sure you have a business account, as the fees are a bit lower.

  • Try Fiverr, Microworkers or Mturk. You can find decent workers for cheap from these 3 sites.

The link I posted takes you directly to PayPal's page describing their fees.

Paypal is the way to go. You can also ask them to pay you in your own currency to avoid extra conversion rate fees. I am in Australia and I do that. It saves me quite a lot over the course of a year.

    Yup, Paypal's the best.
Other than Feelancer.com, Fiverr is one of the cheapest to try with.
