INTERNET MARKETING

I want to start building my list and will signup for either aweber or getresponse this week.
I have a blog that i am startig to get traffic from and i want to somehow add people to my list from my blog. Shall i give away a free ebook and should i have the lead capture page on every page of my blog or just the home page? Also what is the most effectie way to get people to give up their info? The best way to do it is set up a squeeze page and direct all traffic to that. Also have an optin form on your blog.

If you have the budget you can build your list quicker by sending PPC traffic to your squeeze page.

  your optin form should be on every page you can get it on!
  give people something of quality for FREE! that always helps!
  with Getresponse and Aweber you can manually add anyone you want but they still need to confirm - with GR co-reg leads are acceptable but with aweber they are not!

Have the sign up form on every page
Put a link to the subscription under every article, right where people are primed to sign up (if they enjoyed your article)
You need some sort of incentive, a free ebook works for me, but also people have success with responder sequences, etc. On my authority blogger list it is an audio interview with transcript. Test stuff out.
Biggest tip is to SELL it, even free needs to be sold. Give good reasons for people to sign up and they will.

Blog traffic can not really be converted into sign ups unless you take some specific measures like these ones...

1. Have a link pointing to your squeeze page at least once in every post
2. Have your opt-in box in the sidebar of the template so that it is visible on all the pages of your blog.
3. It is obvious that you need traffic to build a list by sending people to your squeeze page... You might want to create some videos and upload them to youtube.

Thanks for the great feedback, I think i'll go ahead and signup for get response and then i will have a lead capture page popup in my blog where i will give away a few good ebooks which is related to my niche. Does anyone know how to make your optin form popup on your site?

  That's a great idea, you can easily integrate pretty much any auto responder code into your blog where your optin box will appear on all your pages so you can start capturing your leads information.
  
  Depending on what niche your in you can give away a free report, a video, pretty much anything that would be of value to them to give up their information.
  
  Or you can just say sign up my newsletter.....

I use a blog with a Pop Up Plugin from MaxBlogPress, you can download it here: MaxBlogPress Unblockable Popup (no affiliate link) it's free and have great options as display pop up after the seconds you want, show it only the X times the prospect visit your blog, etc.

This increase my opt ins a lot!

I bought a report for $7 on about one hundred different ways to invite folks to your MLM opportunity. A pretty good report with many very good invites. I got resell or PLR with it. This would be a very good item (in my mind) to give out for a sign up. But anything like this should work. I would guess that you have something you could use, but if not you can contact me and I can share this report with you.

The invites can be used for any business type, so they are very flexible. I got one of the best invites from modifying one of them. I am pretty sure that is what I will be using when I get my site up and running. But you are welcome to use it if you need it. Just PM me with your email address and mention the invite report.

  Evolution of Email Marketing:
  
  1. Free newsletter (cool I'll sign up for that)
  
  2. Free email course (Yeah, whoo - they are really giving away the farm here)
  
  3. Free eBook (Wow, this is unbeatable, what are they ever going to have left to sell)
  
  4. Free Video (Okay man you got me)
  
  5. Free Physical CD - just pay shipping (OMG... this is insane)
  
  See how sign ups have evolved? Most freebies nowadays are worthless and people are really starting to figure that out as they already have so much free stuff... (At least in the IM market)
  
  What I am starting to do now is actually pitch my subscriber form like a product and give them a choice if they want to sign up or not to get the free stuff... I'll obviously have a link or two in the PDF or Video files...
  
  Try and think of different ways you can stand out and be different. This takes a bit of work so while your thinking about what to do start with a normal subscribe form giving away a freebie (it's always better to have something up and then fix it later)..

  You can also sign-up to free mailing sites like ViralURL. If you offer free valuable ebook or reports, in exchange for sign-ups to an optin page or capture page, you'll certainly build your list fast.

  I have done that and it work very well.
  
  Now, I have added a pop up for my blog. Got it free from fasterIM plugin from Seree. Going to test it and see if I can get more subscribers. You can try it too.

  You need to incentivize people to opt in to your list by offering some kind of freebie. A free report or ebook is good. Free audio or video works great as well, or you can give them some kind of daily courses delivered to their email inbox.
  
  Put the opt in form on every page of your blog. On the sidebar works great.
  
  If you're using self hosted wordpress blogs, use the what would seth godin do plugin works wonders in increase your opt in rate.
  
  Make sure the opt in form stays above-the-fold as well.

  I'm new to this forum but I have to say it is amazing!
  
  I use aweber to manage my list and I found a good way to get signups along with offering a freebie is to run a monthly prize draw and give away a product similar to what you are selling or something that will compliment it. If you have a catalogue site you can have a prize to win for example a £50 voucher. Then you can contact your subscribers about the winners and get winners feedback and include them on your site etc.

  You'll need to make sure your incentive is something people REALLY, REALLY want, is high value, catches their attention and where the value is communicated effectively.
  
  I have found the combination of opt-in forms on each page (as part of the blog template if you are using Wordpress or as a plugin) and a squeeze page for special promotions and cold traffic works best.

Always give away something for free...1/50 people will sign up for a weekly newletter but 1/10 will sign up for a free valuable e-book!
