Complete newbie: How do I promote my blog?

I have created a real estate blog, giving advice on how to invest in real estate, and flip houses.
It is a wordpress blog that is under a domain name.
I have about 10 articles posted. Right now I am just focusing on creating a good blog, filled with lots of information.

Ok, now how do I get traffic? I have 0 visitors.
Is there a guide somewhere?

Let's say I eventually achieve 50 visitors a day. How would I make some money from this?

Writing articles to submit to article directories is usually a great place to start.

Also, start increasing your page rank by submitting your blog to some great directories. Visit Directory Critic » Directory Lists, Article Directory Lists, Link Building, Directory Templates & Resources for some good ranking directories to submit to.

Also, set up your signature here. It is in your profile. This will generate some backlinks.

Sign up for adsense and put there ads on your blog. You will make money when people click the adds.

Make sure you set up a decent ping list. It will help get you indexed and traffic started from the SEs

Ever since I started blogging daily my traffic has gone
through the roof. I pick up all kinds of little keywords
that I would never have guessed or been able to research.

My answer would be to post EVERYDAY for 30 days
straight, ask other bloggers if you can write a guest
post (I got one ShoeMoney by asking), and comment
on other people's blogs for 2-3 hours per day.

Basically just get out there and start talking to as
many people as you can and when they ask what
you do tell them about your blog.

Since I've started the daily thing my traffic is around
2k visitors per day between my 3 blogs.

for web traffic you could try:

SEO - Search Engine Optimisation - you need to optimise your site so that it will show on page one with the search engines > keywords, content and backlinks.

Article Marketing - submit your articles to the top 5 directories first > EZA, Goarticles, Affsphere, Ideamarketers, Isnare. Then submit to others.

Web 2.0 - use the social networking sites to promote your site

Forums - Join forums and create your signature with your site

Blogs - comment on related blogs

Anything that links to your site in a source that has some valid traffic to offer. This forum is an example of a targeted traffic source as well.

All the advice you have gotten so far is good, but if you want to get immediate traffic to your blog for cheap, then promote it on forums like this and other related blog in the comments.

Also use facebook and twitter. There are a couple of great guides here on this forum. Nathen Hangen has a good product called "Twitter Rockstar" which is pretty good.

Other than that, I would write simple ads for backpage.com, kijiji.com and Craigslist.com. All free sources that will drive in traffic for you.

Those are things that I did to rollout my blog quickandeasymove.com and thesuccessfulbiz.com. Quickandeasymove.com is getting almost 3000 hits a month and it is only 6 months old.

Since you seem like you've got the content part handled, which I believe is the most important aspect, you should really look into social bookmarking. Also, consider following people on Twitter who are involved in your niche! You can gain a lot of traffic from tweeting posts you feel are noteworthy.

Yes I use these sites and they do work. Just get into the habit of using them for each post.

definitely good advice! I post daily too and it seems to work good

open a twitter account just for this blog and post each blog on there along with any target related articles that you have written. When i started my latest blog last week i did the exact same thing and within a week had 1,000 visitors and lots of friendfeed subscribers.
