When your marketing just doesn't work you might be suffering from diflucus of the pizerinctum

Failure, frustration, self-doubt and a lot of second guessing seem to be the signs of a marketing disease called "diflucus of the pizerinctum." (pronounced die-flu-cuss of the pizz-er-ink-tum)

It usually is curable and often results from the marketer applying the wrong strategies at the wrong time for the wrong audience in his promotions.

You see I've learned the hard way that all marketing strategies can be successful and all marketing strategies can be total duds. You would never guess this listening to some IMers who swear by certain methods and preach particular strategies.

Their logic is simple: "I did this and that, made a boatload of cash, and if you do exactly what I tell you, there is no way you won't have the same results."

Now here are 12 IM truths. If you suffer from diflucus of the pizerinctum you can't handle the truth - at least you haven't yet.
  1. Every marketer is unique
  2. Every niche is different
  3. Strategies, tactics, and methods have a shelf life
  4. Successful selling in one situation is not always transferable
  5. Products are (usually, not always) great today and outdated tomorrow
  6. Consumers are fickle and can change their minds whenever
  7. Internet marketing is a dynamic beast that is not tamed easily
  8. Technology waits for no man
  9. Education is critical but actually fairly useless without action
  10. Speed kills! Not. In IM, speed rules.
  11. Tenure means nothing in IM - experience and persistence mean everything
  12. Quality has no trump
I really do wish each of you the highest success!

Steve

Thank you Steve! That`s a really nice post. I wish everyone could understand all these points. Everyone thinks and acts in different way and everyone has a unique strategy, that may be acquired after years of experience, success and failures and not all results are the same. The only thing one can do about it is acquiring more knowledge, applying different strategies, analyzing the results, refining skills and go together with the time and new technologies.
