Google duplicate content - What about images?

I understand the problem google has with duplicate content, and it's understandable in the sense that if someone is lazy and copies your website/blog pages word from word that they will get penalized, but what about if you are using the same images as other sites?

Take buying stock images, clearly other website owners will have purchased these same images somewhere on the internet before me, will this mean than google will consider my images duplicate content?

Would just like to know, thanks.

No google cant scan images to see if there duplicate content. What they go by is the title and alt tags, so as long as you have different tags your fine.

Actually, you don't understand duplicate content, because what you mentioned above is actually syndicated content.

Duplicate content: Posting the same article to your site multiple times, usually with some variations, with the intent to game the SERPS. Example:

    How to Kill Bed Bugs

If you want to kill bed bugs, you need some effective bug spray...
How to Get Rid of Bed Bugs

If you wnat to get rid of bed bugs, you need some good bug spray...
Syndicated content: Posting your content on different sites (even if it's already on your site), or submitting it to the webmasters for for different sites, with the hope that people will read it and click through to your site. Google has no problem with this.

This is all completely wrong. First, you're confusing "duplicate content" and "syndicated content" (the differences between the two are hugely significant, and are briefly explained in this post and this little article), and secondly there are no penalties for it anyway, as Google keeps clarifying in every possible medium at every possible opportunity.
