Is it my imagination or does everyone get a 100 jvs and only a few produce.
Sometimes I can have 50 and none make more then a few sales.

Sometimes I only get a few jv's and they make 100's of sales.

Is this so they can try to get a free review copy or what is it.

I would never ask to promote a product then not send a blast out for it so I can not understand.

Just the nature of the game. The majority of sales usually come from the top 5 affiliates.

It is a numbers game. Even Hank Aaron had some down days.

Suppose it depends on the quality of JV's in general...but I would assume, as in everything, only a few top performers really...well...perform :-P

yeah people definitely sign up just to get it free or discounted themselves...you can easily put language in your terms that disallow that...or create a payout threshold that's like $100 before you pay out (say your product costs' $33 - they have to make 4 sales before you pay out) etc.

I won't do that cause I won't even promote a product if they put me on delayed commissions. Been doing this too long to have to wait for my money. My refund rate on products I promote, less than 1 percent, on my launches less than 3 percent.

In practically every affiliate program that I've studied, and
practically every launch that I've watched behind the scenes,
the majority of affiliates NEVER promoted, or produced NO
    sales.

People quote the 80/20 rule but I've seen affiliate programs
    where it's more like 95/5.

I don't think that JV's sign up just to get a review copy of a
product (in most launches) as much as many sign up for more
affiliate promotions than they can possibly mail for.

It is the nature of the game.

If you are the product owner, you should focus most of your
attention on those actually promoting rather than trying to
get those not promoting to promote. It's usually more
    productive.

Knowing that many affiliates sign up for more things than they
can promote, you also want to maintain top of mind awareness
during your launch, by emailing your JV partners/affiliates often,
and making it as easy as possible for them to promote.

I agree with Willie. From my own experience it's nowhere near the 80/20 rule. It's about 95/5, if that.

There are very few affiliates who are able to produce the big numbers. That's why I decline most affiliates unless I personally know them or have heard about them. All the average affiliate sets to do is ruin your stats such as EPC, etc and make it less inviting for any real affiliates to promote.

I would have it a guess that it's about 96% of all affiliates on platforms such as Warrior Plus, JV Zoo and Clickbank that are wasting your time.

Not everyone has huge responsive lists. So obviously only the super affiliates with great lists are going to be the one's making your letter boards and winning contests. The majority will only have small lists or are only able to get a small amount of traffic for you which may or may not be enough to convert. They all add up though if you have a lot of small affiliates. Then there are even more that simply request to promote to have the option to and then don't do anything.

I have only a small list under 1,000 and so I'm not able to drive tons of sales to most things, though the sales I generate are better than nothing and them not getting those. My conversions are usually good and high, just the clicks are small. Though it really depends on the product, and as much as I think I have a clearer idea what my list is going to respond to I keep finding it's a hit or miss. I always mail out for the products I signed up for, though they don't always get sales or many clicks. One might get no sales, and then I promote a different product to my exact same list and get over 30 sales and win a weekend contest. So often it's just the product isn't a match.
