Anyone advertise on Youtube?

I know there are a lot of people who make money becoming a partner with youtube so ads appear on their videos.

But have you advertised on Youtube?

Did you use banner ads, instream videos or what?

What was your experience?

Of course it all comes down to targetting. It seems like 80% of the time the video ads that play before the video you want to watch have nothing to do with the video I want to see. Very poor targeting.

Thanks, Ron

You are right or according to my experience.
I tried to promote sponsored video ads on you tube and my ad video would be shown to viewers that has nothing to do with the targets I have chosen and the conversion was very poor. I promoted new site there to check how much traffic I would get from there and it didnt work.

I love putting videos on you tube and they do send me tons of traffic

    but Paid ones? Not Again

I use keyword targetting and get quite reasonable traffic - use lots and lots of relevant keywords -maybe 200 or more. I can't be sure about this, but advertising a video seem to improve the rank position of the video.

I'm talking mainly about paid ads (video or banners etc.) on other peoples videos, channels.

I like it. I have used it a lot in the last year. Generally speaking you can’t promote affiliate offers using it, but it is effective for driving traffic to your site or legitimately buying views for your You Tube videos.

As far as poor targeting you just have to know what type of ads to serve. Set you bids very low or put that type of ad on pause to get rid of the non targeted stuff.

As a general rule avoid the “in stream” ads unless you really know what you are doing. Your daily budget will be wasted if you go that route.

I have. They can really burn your budget fast - so be careful. You can get views for 3 cents each so it may work out.

I use keyword targeting and pay for impressions for our video creation/marketing service. I have spent about $100 so far with 3 sign-ups. Not too bad for an initial try.
