Default Tips On Buying Expired Domains..

Hi Warriors,

I'm in the process of looking to purchase a number of expired (or close to expired) domains in order to redirect them to existing sites for either myself or clients, and capitalise on the existing traffic.

Not having done this before, can anyone share any experience on purchasing expired domains... ie/ what to look for? what statistics to check? age of domains? How much to pay? recommended sites to use to find them etc???

Any suggestions and advice would be appreciated.
Simon.

I know you can get tools to find expired domain that get dropped by a person with hundreds of back links and you can get them say at go daddy for like $10 or less. If you buy this way you could even sell them to clients at a great profit.

Hi Monitorit,

Thank you for the feedback.. Do you know the name of the tools you refer to?
I did some digging on Google the other day, but many of the expired domain searching tools or software are paid programs... So i gather backlinks is the main thing to look for with expired domains (Ie./ yahoo backlinks for example)..

Theres a free program called "expired domains", helps locate soon to be expired domains. I'd check that out.

I also recommend using freshdrop.net, you can filter the domains using many variables such as inbound links, traffic pagerank e.t.c.
It also tells you whether the pagerank is legit or faked which is very useful.

Another site I recommend for checking a domain prior to purchase is archive.org, this site shows you the history of the domain, worth doing to make sure it wasn't used for anything dodgy in the past.

Cheers,
Danny.

One of the best tools that I have found for finding good expired and expiring domains is Register Compass. You can even find expired domains from Godaddy's domain name aftermarket closeouts for $5 .

I tried a site called drophunt.com the other day but it kept crashing.
