Did anyone try this kind of business? Is there real potential? What are the pitfalls?

      I think you're in for a rough go of it . . . here's why:
      • "Funny" is very subjective. What's funny to you may not be funny to anyone else.
      • There are many sites online that feature humorous videos, and they do it for free (making their money from affiliate links, on-site advertising, etc).
      • Are you going to make the videos? I hope so, because selling a list or even a membership site with nothing but other people's videos is very risky (trademark issues)
      • People aren't going to know if something is funny or not unless they witness it - so how do you pull that off? Charge after they've viewed? I'm not sure how you're going to make this work.
      • Do a search on "funny" and you will see that most of the business models are based on free videos, images, jokes, etc. And the keywords don't command a high cost (as in Adwords) which leads me to believe it is going to be hard to monetize this niche. I could be wrong, but . . .
Of course, you may have thought this all through.

      Just my opinion.

OK, I mean some interesting entertaining humorous short stories that make people burst with laughter and shock them. Not stupid humor like people falling down on their faces, etc.

Serious question: Why would anyone pay for that when they can go to youtube or a million other video sites any time and watch funny videos for free?

What if it's something exclusive? Why do people buy movies, books, music instead of watching, reading and listening to what is available for free? I've got very high quality content videos about 20 min long each. They are like short movies.

LOL I figured someone would make that exact response.

Personally, I don't know of a lucrative market for random people trying to sell funny videos but if you actually think your vids are valuable, then start marketing them. If not, don't.

You asked your question and you got very logical and reasonable answers as to why this business model wouldn't work.

Why do you think you're any more special than any of the other many other "YouTube celebrities"

If you have the videos that you say you do, then you're better off just creating a channel and uploading them. If they're as great as you say, do some social media marketing to drive traffic to them and you'll become a YouTube Partner and make lots of money.

By the way, (last I checked) third highest subscribed channel does exactly what you're talking about as far as content:

            Smosh - YouTube

Someone else that makes me laugh a lot:

            EDBASSMASTER - YouTube

There are tons more, but these are by far my favorite 2.

If you're going to ask advice and then be combative with everyone who offers you logical, and sound advice, why did you bother asking in the first place?

If you're so convinced, get off the WF, make your site, and charge for your "funny" content. If it works out for you sit back, and laugh at all the suckers that told you otherwise.

    Hi everyone,

Funny videos sound good but what funny means for you may be different for somebody else!

So you need to pick up more specific niche and narrow your videos to it.

And I think you can make money that way but I've never tried it.

Anyway I wish you luck and see you on top

It's a good idea to upload your funny videos on YouTube and getting registered in their advertising system. The average of money you can get by this way is vary to the quality of your traffic but the average would be $2 for every 5,000 visitors.

I think if you have a website of funny vidoes and you include the website address at the end of each video to bring people there, you can make money off ads on your side. You can also find ways to incorporate affiliate products into your videos. On Fiverr, you can offer to make videos and personalize them somehow for people.

Funny Videos are the easiest to go viral, so you can put these videos on youtube and monetize them. You can do like what i do by setting up a facebook fanpage and put these videos on them and get fans to your page and you can sell them stuff too.

Youtube is owned by google who can swat you like a fly anytime they feel like it without even giving you a reason.

I'm getting ready to get in the funny videos game and am going through CPAlead. I'd rather get 4 views at .50 cents a piece then try and get 5,000 views on youtube before I get paid. I think you have earn over 100$ before google will even pay out which would be like 1,000,000 views or something.

my opinion, what if you publish a series of funny videos, find sponsors just like typical tv shows.
    =)
Simply publish them on youtube regularly.

I'm not sure who would buy a funny video, but you could probably put it on Youtube and other video sharing sites and use it to generate ad revenue or traffic to some other kind of offer.

      Max,

I just did a quick search in Google on "funny videos."

Try it, you'll notice something very "telling" in the search results. Can you spot it?

There are no paid ads on the right side of the page.

That should tell you something about this niche.

You can offer a gig on Fiverr saying that you will create a funny video promoting someone’s products or services. You have to make a combination. You have to say something funny and use this funny message to promote what your customers desire.
