Default whats the idea behind submitting rss feeds

Hi. can someone explain to me the idea or benefit of submitting rss feeds to the various feed directories?

Is this just another fad or is there some major advantage from it?

New to seo. Hope to learn a lot. :)

It's one more way to build links. Occasionally you can get some traffic from it if you have a popular rss feed, but that is not necessarily an easy thing to accomplish.

PHP Link Directory Script - a great addition to ANY website and much more than just a directory.

The bigger question is how or where does one find the tools to place an rss feed onto your WP blog and or website. I still haven't figured that out. I already knew it was important however the actual hands on off getting that feed to begin with is the mystery for me at least. Any answers on this would be great. Thanks

I do it as a part of my quick indexing strategy, I submit my rss feed to about 50 directories then ping my feed, this helps to get me indexed pretty fast, with the mix of a few other things

How many total separate RSS feeds can you submit per directory (per account on that directory)

ie, if i have 2 blogs, can i create an account on an rss directory, and submit Both rss feeds for both blogs?

or do the majority rss directories only allow you to add 1 rss feed only?
