Landing Pages Themeforest

Hey guys,

You know how themeforest.net has landing pages?
Landing Pages | ThemeForest

A lot of them are cheap and NOT on WordPress.
As you guys already know I already have a Host Gator account
and I am "beginner" familiar with installing WP on HG.

So how do you do install these templates? HTML?
Should I just pay someone on oDesk to get it up and going?

Thank you WF,

Zach

Ya, you would have to upload the files to your hosting account via and FTP client like Filezilla. Installing the website files and editing the pages will be much easier if you have experience with html. so, ya you could have someone else do it for you or you could take the time to learn a little html. Or just continue with wordpress themes.

This is kind of what makes me laugh nowadays. 99% of people in our industry don't have the faintest clue how to do simple tasks such as use FTP to upload a basic website. I'm not having a go at you (the OP) so please don't take it that way. Just something I have noticed for a long time in this industry. People rely too much on things like Wordpress and as a result they never get to learn the most basic of tasks.

Putting a simple landing page on your domain is a very easy process. All you need to do is connect to your domain with FTP and then transfer the file from your computer to your domain. It should literally take all of 30 seconds. If you are unfamiliar with FTP I really recommend you learn it. It's very basic but is a skill that you will use over and over again.

There are plenty of free FTP tutorials on Youtube if you get stuck.

Here is a free FTP program that I use and recommend:

All you need to do is:

    1. Login to your cpanel
    2. Click "File Manager" (Choose your domain in the drop down window)
    3. Click upload and add the website file.

    This should do it.

To edit click on the page such as "index.html" and then click "Code Editor" and you can edit.

File manager is a tedious way for uploading files.

Again, people shouldn't be afraid to learn basic skills such as FTP. FTP is definitely the standard for uploading any types of files to your website.

There are tons of providers here on WF alone that can help you with the basic editing (even complex) of those landing pages.

If you want to do them on your own, you might wanna get your hands dirty with some basic html editor like Frontpage (outdated, I know)

      Hope that helps.

      Cheers,

  • Learn how to do those basic tasks. If you're serious about this business, you will have to install/modify dozens of landing pages over the following years.

Zach, be honest for a moment: have you spent at least 10 minutes on Google trying to find your answers?

I can almost bet one of my kidneys that you didn't ...
