Hi Warriors,

I am getting concerned about the security of the blog, not that I have noticed anything strange but just to be on the safer side.

So what are the things to look out for?
What are the precautions to take?

Will pass on any self promotions, what I am looking for is a useful check list for everyone to ensure blog safety rather than seeing whole bunch of promotions in the thread.

Thanks to all !

Cheers
Melvin

If you are willing to spend the time doing the work ....

    * Change your admin username
    * Change your admin password - 16+ characters with numbers and symbols
    * Change your database prefix (wp_) to something else
    * Change your admin folder name
    * Change your plugins folder name
    * Make sure PhpSuExec is installed on your server
    * Disable "ALL" auto update functions
    * Make sure no folders or files are permissioned to 777
    * Block access to all non-public folders
    * Block unwanted bots from your server

That is just to get you started ...

WP Security Scan is a good plugin. I run it on all new WP installs. It scans your install for holes and makes security suggestions. If you go plugin-crazy over time, you should run it again, just to make sure you didn't tear anything open.
