if you really want to make it in internet marketing don't be afraid to spend money

When I first started trying to make it onilne I was obsessed with trying to make money without investing a cent of my own money... Of course I didn't though.

I ended up investing in multiple programs and software before I started to make any returns.

Any IM success story you read by some body who's made it big online always starts off by talking about how they invested thousands of dollars into training programs and software and this, that and the other thing before they made it.

Interesting... Maybe that's the key??

Think about it. If you invest your hard earned money into a program you're gonna be real motivated to see it through right?! Not only that, every time you invest in a program you get inspired by whoever the particular coach is and you make some progress towards your goals.

Eventually you realize that all the information is available for free on the internet but paying for a program or a coach is so much more than just information.

A good program will talk you through a step by step action plan to making money. It's motivation, it's networking and being around other people that are implementing the same plans as you.

If you choose to do all your learning through a forum (which is an awesome way to go about it - especially this one) you still need to expect to pay for web hosting, domain names, and various software etc.

I've just realized that this is a vital part of the road to success for an IM newbie. This doesn't mean you should set a match to your money. You still need to make smart purchases, but a couple of hundred dollars well spent can save you months of time.

I remember 3 years ago I was into article spinning and I spent hours a day spinning low quality articles and then submitting them to AMA etc. Damn I hated that job. I gave up after a couple of months and it was all wasted.

I could have been outsourcing that job for a couple of dollars an hour and concentrating on other activities that I enjoyed. My business would have been more likely to succeed. I was essentially working for $2 an hour.

Anyway the point I'm making is make wise purchasing decisions, but don't be scared to give things a go! As long as you learn something it's not been a waste of time.

Yes, this is especially easy to do nowadays thanks to websites like fiverr. You're right, beginners shouldn't be afraid to spend money but they should be careful, and most of the time it's better to spend money on testing rather than buying guides. I'm not saying that the latter is bad. It can help too but experience is the best teacher!

I have found that you need to tread lightly, really sit back and KNOW what your spending money on, anyone will give you "the secrets" for the right price, it's just a matter of how good the secrets are and if its worth it.... newbies (Like me) fall victim to the bait and switch or hyped up offers that sometimes its overwhelming. Proceed with caution but I do agree that you Will need to come out of pocket to see the good returns, No such thing as free money ... At the least it cost time and time is a valuable thing

Your network of like minded business people is crucial to most people's success in the internet marketing industry.

Most people have no idea what goes on 'behind the scenes', but if they did I think their collective success would come much sooner.

Honestly, when I got 'started', I spent very little money and had success, but it wasn't 'leave your job' success. It was more fun money than anything. When I started to realize that I really enjoyed what I was doing, I made the decision to take it seriously and go full on.

That's when I started spending real money. And consequently that's precisely the same time I started making real money.

I also agree, some investment is needed, but it is a double edge sword...

Spending money on something like traffic before you know what you're doing can and most likely will cost you more than you earn...

Sometimes it's wise to test with free methods prior to spending money, but that is definitely taking the scenic (long) route...

An ideal situation is to know what you want to sell, figure out how to test it without spending too much, and then once you have a winner, you can invest to scale your success up. I know that's a perfect world scenario and it sounds a lot easier than it actually is, but it's also the safest way to go..

In the end, it all comes back to the OP being right, "you will have to spend money to make money" at some point...

Most people would give up after this point. But in reality any time you are starting off with paid traffic you are likely to spend more than you earn.

So then you learn from that experience, fine tune the campaign and then press on. No point throwing the baby out with the bath water.

IM is your business, maybe in a shoestring but it is a business anyways. Depending where you are coming from you will need to educate or reeducate yourself, that will cost you time and money. This forum is the well of free information on this market that would help you to get stated without money. But to get you to next level you got to invest in yourself first and in your minimal business´s expenses.

I'd say that finding a good coach/mentor that can give you one-on-one help when you need it is invaluable.

Even if it seems expensive, if you can truly afford it, it will always be worth it. The key is finding a good one though because not all are unfortunately. And not everyone is good at everything, so you definitely need to do your research first.

Never sign up to a personal coach unless they are prepared to do a free session with you first. If they can't sell you on how good they're services are, how will they be able to teach you to sell online?

        Note to professional coaches:

Never take on a client who isn't willing and/or able to pay something up front. If the client isn't willing to commit hard cash up front and he can't show you he's dedicated from the start, how can you believe he will stick til the end? (Of course you knew that already, didn't you?)

I agree that you need to spend some money up front. But I definitely know people who spend a lot of money on products or services and don't actually implement or use any of them. So it's important to be cautious and committed to using what you buy.

You obviously have to spend money to make money (like the old saying go's),
But for beginners in this business because it is a business and not just a push a few buttons and make money thing. Like all businesses just be careful where you spend that money.

    Yep, it's true.

My view would be quite cautious, only spending money I could comfortably live without. It would be very easy to max out credit cards on software and programmes you may not need or are not a good fit for your business. I would be extremely wary of someone spending the rent money on something that promises them how to earn x amount of $ before rent day.

Obviously high risk takers would disagree, quoting times when they spent their last pennies on something that made them thousands, but you need to be ok with the monetary loss at that time if things go pear shaped.

I agreed with Brannigans & John Atkins views because " Money make Money "

in my point of view every knowledge is good . Whether you get it from newbie or getting from experts , but If you get some thing free of cost , U`ll not understand the real value of it & u`ll not follow all the steps that some one guide You b`coz u did not spend a single money only it just a free of cost.

Ya I also agreed with , that don`t spending money blindly is totally waste of money . experience is your best teacher . Thank`s Both of You Guy`s

I agree you can't be afraid to spend money, but you have to spend on the right stuff. I bought tens of info products before I spent a penny on traffic. If I would have spent that money on testing offers I would have progressed much faster.

I agree that after a while you find that some things are just easier if you buy some software tools or outsource tasks you don't like/aren't good at. The coach/mentor idea though is probably not a good idea for a lot of people. Some of these coaching programs really aren't offering the value to go with the price tag. Plus they may be teaching techniques and methods that you can't really implement or aren't compatible with your strengths and weaknesses.

yeah man, you are right. Most of those high cost programs that you buy to learn how to do this IM business, can be found for free. However, when you spend the money, you are saving time, and that is the most valuable resource that there is. Everything else you can get more of, but time is the only thing that has a finite amount.

So better to save time, and cut the learning curve to be successful, and get going.
These hi-priced courses also have tricks from the product owner, where they tell you what works, and has worked for them after they've spent all the time and money figuring it all out.

Now you can save even more time in trying to figure it all out, and just hit the ground running.

So yeah it cost you some money, but you saved time.

After you get your money making website, or sites, then spend some money and get traffic to your squeeze page.

Fortune is in the follow up!

Couldn't agree more but make calculated and smart decisions. But a general rule of thumb is that you get what you pay for... but research what you are getting. There is no system or product out there that will run and create your business for you. The biggest ingredient is YOU. But, surround yourself with quality.

Re-invest in your business, but be smart about it. Test your advertising on small samples to ensure it has a positive ROI. There is a big difference between running a business and throwing money at the wall hoping something will stick
