PRWeb - Press Releases pricing and other options

Hi,

People have repeatedly told me that I can submit a press release through PRWeb for free - or $40 - or higher. It seems to me you could do it for less than $80, but now it appears they don't give you any option lower than $40.

Does anyone know if $80 is now the lowest price for a press release over there? Their FAQ doesn't say anything about free PR distribution but I can't help wondering why people keep saying I can do it for $40 or less. What am I missing?

Are there other equally good press release services that you use that are less expensive or free that you would recommend? Any to avoid?

Thanks.

Sylvia

The Free option went away about two years ago. I cheapest option currently is $80.

Dana's site has a list of free press release sites: http://www.thepressreleasesite.com/l...ase-sites.html

Sylvia, I've just had great success with the paid model of PRMAC Costs $18.75 but goes out to 260 other services. I've done it twice this week for the same client. Both pieces ended up on Google News and heaps of other news services. We've got 5/10 on Google for the targeted keywords. Also had a call from "Inside Mac Radio" that want to give us a 15 minute interview. The client is well pleased.

By the way, PRMAC is a PageRank3 and PRWEB a PR7. We also used PRWEB for another story and although it also hit Google News we didn't have anywhere near that success. It hit the first page of SERPS and then just slid to oblivion.

The trick with PRMAC is to give it an Apple Mac spin. I'm getting quite good at it. Check it out - Atlanta Private Detective Exposes Tool That Hacks Into Gmail Accounts

Thanks Kirk & Metronicity - I'll try those out.

Metronicity - I'm impressed - PRMAC sounds promising. I'm not getting your comment about giving it an Apple MAC spin - will look at that link.

I just submitted my press release to PR.com - it's free, but if you want the simplest thing like an active link , you won't get one unless you pay $29.95 for EVERY hyperlink. Cripes! This guy can get very expensive, ie: adding an image, choosing distribution areas, selecting categories = each one costing you $18->.

I chose to go with the basic free with no special capabilities.

This is my first press release so I want to test first before I go paying to publish them. You'd think PRWeb would give you at least 1-2 freebies to get you started.

      Another question...

Does it make any sense to submit a press release to several different PR distribution services, since most likely they will be hitting many of the same sites?

Actually as a subscriber to their list I have been offered 50% any of their press release services for the past 2 months in a row, so that $80 fee now has been reduced to just $40

I can't post the link since it is suppposedly based on the subscribers email address.

Hey, that sounds good. How long were you a subscriber before you saw the 50% off deals? I'm ok with $40, but $80 is a bit steep for a first-timer.

Good point about free not being a good way to test. The PR site I chose does have a huge page rank, so I'm guessing it might get better results than some of the others I saw.

You didn't read what I wrote above? Both releases on Google News this week. One picked up by a radio station. We now own 5 out of 10 on the front page of Google. Successful? You kidding me? And yeah...I know a good source - moi.

And Sylvia, you didn't understand the MAC bit? The story has to be related to Apple Mac in some way. i.e. spin it.

I like PrWeb and I also really like webwire for a couple of reasons - PRWeb press releases don't go out for 48 hours after you submit them, unless you pay extra, whereas Webwire's press releases go out instantly; and webwire has a $19.95 option that gets my clients KICKASS search engine placement. As was mentioned above, I have a list of 27 free press release distribution sites that I am currently using, which also send good traffic and backlinks.

PRweb is getting very popular with users submitting press releases, also your press release could get into the search facilities on google within 24hours.

Syilva, my 2 go to sites are Webwire and PR.com I use the 19 option with webwire, I submit both at the same time with the same basic release with minor changes between the two.

I set webwire for instant release and set pr.com for 48 hours later. often both releases will show up in regular google for their keywords one and two. it also seems to extend the life of staying in regular google and even longer on MSN.
