I agree with your post, except for this bit.

I'd come at it exactly opposite. Start with the group of people you want to serve (the market) and then help them find the products that will help them achieve the various things they want to achieve.

For example, one of my favorite markets is DINKS (Double Income, No Kids) in their 40s to 60s with relatively high disposable incomes. You can niche this group down into dozens or hundreds of sub-niches and offer everything from advice on expatriate retirement living to redecorating the den to dealing with dentures to learning to knit, paint, sculpt, etc.

While the specific wants/needs might change, the basic group psychology doesn't. Once you understand your market, you can suss out enough products to keep your list(s) going for years...

I didn't mean to imply that my method was the only one worth using, it's just that, for those just beginning to promote offers, it might be easier to find ways to reach a customer if they use the goal product as a tool for a sort of prospect profiling and guiding.

I fully understand that someone with more experience might find your method much more lucrative and even easier.

I'd suggest Aweber by far as well, Getresponse is good, I use both. Aweber is still easier to use in my opinion and considering I have an old Aweber account I still have the old/original html/text editor which makes things even easier again. What you promote is really up to you, think of ideas, choose something you're passionate about and something you have plenty of knowledge for. If you have an interest in something and you'd like to know more about it study it as much as you possibly can so you're an expert in that field.

You want to know what kind of product to offer? there's about a million possible answers to this.

The first thing is to work out what niche you want to target. And then you need to think about your niche and work out what key problems they are facing.

Then you need to create a HIGH QUALITY product that addresses those needs.

Simple... If you choose a niche and want some give away ideas pm me know and I'll be happy to help.

    1) Best autoresponder is speculative, but Aweber is my favorite

    2) Find a niche that is reachable in size, but low in competition. Don't just sell something for the heck of it. Too many people create the product first, and find somebody to sell it to..... instead of finding the niche first, and then attract people to you because you have a solution to their problem or want.

In regards to finding a niche, Clickbank offers sage advice. Check out this video, then pick your subniche, build a list, and then market one of their products through that list. It seems like that is the trick.

You can offer a simple free product which offers some useful tips. As for the autoresponder... people have different opinions on which is best. Aweber, Getresponse, and IContact are all pretty popular.

First of all, I would highly recommend that you figure out what kind of product to promote yourself. Alexa Smith has posted on the subject in this forum, you can find many of her posts on the forum, using the search bar.

Basically, choose a product that has demand, is of high quality and has a well-written sales page.

As for starting an email list, after you pick a product I'd suggest working backwards - figure out what group of people does the product target, what are their initial objections and how can you have to overcome and how can your promoted product be a solution for them (you can do that by studying the product itself and the sales page, which, if written well, covers most of the objections a prospect might have before buying).

Then it's a matter of preselling (you should look into this, as it's perhaps the most important part in turning your prospect into a customer, Paul Hancox is a great author on the subject) - figuring out how through your content (free report, articles, autoresponder series) get your prospect to naturally accept the product as the solution to his problem/need.

    I like Aweber best.

As for what products you should sell, you need to find a niche that appeals to you and is profitable (there are many threads on niches, just do a search) and then to find products you could start with Clickbank.

    Hope that helps

Look through the history of your web browser and look at the sites you spend the most time on. The chances are that this list will show you the topics that you have a passion about, and that is where you should focus your energy.

Start writing a blog / articles with answers to the most common problems, and once you get used to writing you will suddenly find that you have enough content to create a free report to use for listbuilding purposes. Next you can start to create more content by doing video's and interviews with experts, and hey presto you have your own unique information product.

The last bit of advice is that if you get stuck with the technical side of listbuilding then go and hire someone to do that. Don't get stuck in the mindset that you need to do everything in your business. The tech stuff is easier than you think to outsource, and won't cost anywhere near as much as you think.

    1. The best auto responded I believe is aweber. There are other ones -- but I feel personally it is the best one out there.

    2. What product depends first on what market you are targeting. You must always start with a profitable niche frist!

Once you know what your niche is -- then you can do some research and find a high quality product. Be sure first to by it yourself, this way you can give your future prospects the pros and cons about it.

In my opinion, I think Aweber is the best. I use Aweber and I like their platform. As far as the product, you need to do some research before considering what you want to offer. You can have an amazing product, but without a hungry market, you won't build your list.

Find out what people are searching for. Go to ClickBank and see what products are selling that are related to what you want to sell. Setup your squeeze page, install Google Analytics to track your numbers, and tweak your sales page from there.
