Anybody Use ViralURL?

The ViralURL website has been down for three or four days now... yet I continue to get emails from members there. That doesn't make sense? Have they just disappeared?

    What is a ViralURL?

      Thanks for your help!

Oh -- to answer your question, check out their website at viralurl.com. Oh wait, it's down so that won't do you any good.

      Basically it's a link-cloaking service and a safelist...

        Smart Alec.

I understand the need for link-cloaking, but am wondering if safelists are still useful. If so, how are they used these days?

Very useful. They are used as they have always been. List building.

That's weird -- can't think of any reason they would do that.

I tried turning my firewall off -- no difference.

Guess I'll go to a coffeeshop and see if I can access them from a different IP...

I guess then I am misinformed. I had picked up some information that they did not work anymore and that the lists were unresponsive.

How do I find them and tell the good from the bad and the ugly?

I used to use them, but ended up trading them in for a nice service... Cligs (cli.gs). I also got tired of the constant spam from their site. I will say that their splash bar or whatever it was called was a very nice feature of the service.

Figured out the problem -- had to edit my Hosts file. I guess Spybot had banned the site or something.

Haven't tried their list cloaking, but I've had good luck with ViralURL for listbuilding, but only after I went for the $197 premium member OTO you see when you sign up.

The free memberships at these sites are basically worth what you pay for them. I've tried several other safelists with mediocre results at best.

I haven't had any issues accessing viral URL (though I haven't sent a mailing for a few days).

Safelists are great if you don't mind pulling in an extra few hundred subscribers a month with a little bit of effort. I've built almost my entire list with free traffic websites.
