Any PDF creator that makes links active?

INTERNET MARKETING

hi,

i have tried adobe acrobat 8, cute pdf but
NONE of them publish the pdf with active links

i use word document and when i publish into pdf,
the links (that don't start with www) are not clickable?

any other pdf softwares solve this problem?

PS...open office works...but when i copy paste word doc to open office,
the spacing is different...

I think you are mistaken about Acrobat 8, but Acrobat 9 for sure you can do it.

Do a google search for "CutePDF Writer"... its free, and your links stay active. I use it all the time.

Hey Droopy,

I tried using CutePDF and it removed the links from mine when I converted. I had to switch to Open Office to get them to work.

Is there a setting I'm missing when I convert mine?

Wow it never removes my links... I don't know if there's a setting other than to select "file", then "print", and instead of using a printer you choose the "CutePDF" option, then save your PDF to your chosen directory.

Man that's nuts... sorry if it didn't work for you bro. Hell I bought Acrobat (7)... thinking I'd keep my links, and I ended up using the free Cute PDF

I use open office and it works fine . You will actually have to set the links that do not start with w w w . If you like using word you can download primo (just google it ) it is a free app and works great .

Hi BJ,
It might depend on how you print. I know I used to find a problem with Adobe when I creating the PDF from word - if I remember correctly, you have to use the button in the Word toolbar to get active links, but if you do File > Print To PDF or whatever the menu option is, links are inactive.

At least it was something like that, so try different methods of printing.

If you can't see the PDF toolbar in Word, you might need to either do the View > Toolbars option (or whatever it's called) to make it visible, or reinstall Acrobat and ensure you pick the option to work with Office.

I find with open office the link won't be live till after I hit the enter bar and go to the next line.

I also was wondering about BJ's original point about when you copy from word to put it into open office, the document spacing is all different. Is there an easy fix for this?

All those that recommended Open Office...

Did y'all read the OP??... he doesn't want to use open office...

Personally, I always use it, but he wanted something different that wouldn't create strange spacing when you import a word doc

  The free program, pdf995, works just fine for me - with documents created in Word. I've been using it for years and my links always remain active. The only links I haven't tried yet are anchor text links. Seems to me this is not an option. I could be wrong, because there is a tab to do links that I haven't look at very closely.
  
  But if you just want a direct URL to stay active, pdf995 will do it. Did I say it's free?

Don't copy and paste the .doc file from Word to OpenOffice Writer, simply open the file in Writer and click on file and then click on 'export as PDF'.

As long as you have set up your hyperlinks correctly then they will still be active and clickable in the .pdf version of the file.
