Is Switching the Reply-to Address in Mailchimp After Three Years a Good Idea?
I'm brand new to this forum as a member, but have read a lot of the discussions. Great site.
Here's my dilemma. I've been using a gmail address as my reply-to address in Mailchimp campaigns for a few years. Some list members are heavily engaged 5 star members. If I suddenly switch to a me@mydomain.com address, will email clients such as gmail and hotmail give me a clean slate on engagement? Will I lose some percentage of "engagement points" I have racked up over the years with some members? I hear some email services are pretty smart with figuring out whether the sender is the same based on ip, address in footer, etc, but I'm worried. I'm especially nervous in light of the recent gmail changes and "primary" and "promotional" inbox tabs. I send out mainly instructional newsletters related to meditation, some of which may have calls to action of both the commercial and noncommercial kind. Just FYI in case that makes a difference.
Another thing I want to add is that the reply-to address I want to change it to is a forwarding address. That means when someone sends an email to it, it will go to my web/domain host which will forward the email to my gmail address. I forgot whether I can just log into my host and use that account for email. I think it's just a pure forwarding address.
