3 Simple Steps to Email Optin Cash

3 things you can do to make more money
immediately after people optin to your page.

1. Instead of having people optin and go straight to your free gift/download...

...email them the gift/download and have a meta-refresh page tell them "the free gift/download is being sent via email and should be in their email box in a few minutes" and then you automatically send them to an offer (btw: this can be your affiliate link) after 3 seconds.

-----------------------
Place inside <head> to redirect to http://offerpage.com/ after 3 seconds:

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="3; url=http://offerpage.com/">

fyi: You can get more info about "meta refresh" here:
Redirect to a Different URL using the Meta Tag "Refresh":*Web Site Maintenance:*Tools and Guides:*IU Webmaster:*Indiana University
-----------------------

2. Add an offer on your download page where they get your free gift

3. Add an offer in your free gift/download especially if it's an free report.

Of course, the offer has to be relevant to your subscribers... aka "make sense".

If you have anymore way's please feel free to add to the list by posting below...

Put the download in a .zip file, and include extra files in there...
for example, an .html shortcut to a special offer.

Name the .html file something catchy, like "SomethingYouWant.html"

Wille I am always reluctant to download zip files (unless I have purchased a product). do you have any thoughts about people downloading those files?

I haven't had anyone express reluctance to me directly. I know that
.exe files are a problem for some, but I zip a lot of files just for compression.

Thanks Matt. This works. I've been doing this for some niches, and the main thing is to increase the probability of seeing the offer, because the fact is, visibility decreases the longer you wait after an opt-in (email open rates drop, etc).

This is great advice Matt and Willie for those of us building lists. These little steps can really increase the exposure of your offers to your opt-ins which can definitely decrease the amount of time it takes to turn a looker into a buyer.

Optimize your download page with another attention grabbing banner leads to another offer.

Its like download your freebies below

Wait, How about securing your hands on more making money techniques at once? << catchy headline ( keep it more bold and attention grabbing than the download button)

Check out here! << link or banner, banner works best.

Remind them that an email with your name has been sent to them with the download link "just in case they needed the page again". A lot of marketer leaves this out. But this is a very vital step. I'll explain why later...

Tell your subscriber that another bonus is awaiting at the first email (Give your subscriber another important incentive to look for and open your email - keep repeating your name).

You need to leave instruction for your subscriber to "unjunk" and white-list your email. Or for gmail online - drag your email from the Promotion Tab into the Primary Tab.

All these few steps train them to identify and look out for your emails in future - it will help them recall your name in the sea of spam and most importantly, increase your open rate.

    Hope this helps.

      So Matt,

I'm assuming you would only use one of the three techniques when a person opts in to your list, correct? Can you tell us, from your experience, which one has been the most successful (profitable) for you?

      Thanks,

No all three at the same time.

All 3 at the same time.

However, if you really want to pick one of the
3 then having them redirect to an offer would be
and is the most profitable because that's when
you are guaranteed to have their attention.

(And in marketing - attention is key)

As long as you, clearly state that you are
going to be sending them the download link
in the "meta refresh" page and really have
your autoresponder send the download like
you said you would then you fulfilled on
        your promise.

I'd guess it's the 1st one. Making the thankyou page redirect to a related offer page after a few seconds.

The prospect has shown enough interest to take action and optin and while they are in a take-action mindset they my be willing to take action to buy when an offer is put in front of them.

They still get the free gift from the email and followup sequence will provide more reasons for them to go back.

Does this match with your results Matt?

I really think it has everything to do with attention. At that
very moment is the only time you are almost guaranteed to
have that new subscribers attention after the moment they
optin you have to start actually working to get it again.

My Opt-Ins are taken to a customized "Thank You" page that tells them that I have sent them the ebook/report to the email address they provided instead of immediately providing them a download link. They are more likely to provide a valid email address that way. The thank you page also has a couple of CPA offers in the same niche. It seems to be working fine.

Slightly off topic, but when I move a sales page to a new location, I'll add the meta refresh, but set to 0, mentioned above and a frame to the new page so people are reading the fresh content even before the redirect.

Nice share Matt - I think emailing the download is the best way to do it because if people can get access to the file straight away after they fill out the optin what's stopping them from putting a fake email address in?

I think I have a lot of drainers in my list and I think that's the reason why because I am giving them the download straight away!

This is not always true. You can gain trust with the help of an endorsement. If Matt endorses me and he has a good relationship with his list then I gain that trust that his subscribers have for him.

It helps to build a relationship before selling something but some people can't pass that stage to ask for a sale. If your sales message is good, then it's no problem to ask for the sale while the prospect is hot and ready. Wait too long and they lose interest. A lot of customers make impulse purchases online. If they have a little interest, and you add some time limitation to the offer, you'll have higher conversions. Try it.

I think your not following my original post correctly...

Instead of having people optin then land on the download
page like this: Optin Page ->> Download Page

(btw... most people also send the download page after optining in also)

            Do this:

            Optin Page -->> Offer

And just send the download page via autoresponder.

Hi Matt, thanks for sharing :-)

Not sure if I understand totally what you have said. I think what zedsta meant is if a person optin, the email that he or she gives may not be valid. By emailing the download page through the autoresponder, instead of automatically directing them to the download page after they optin, this helps to ensure the validity of the email addresses which they supply.
When I mail out offers through my optin list, I realise that some bounce back, which I believe are invalid email addresses.

I get that... but you can't control the email address they put in unless
it's double optin.. maybe I'm wrong but to me it's just going to happen
via single optin so you just have to count that to happen.

Here is another easy to implement tip...

Add a .txt file or an .html shortcut inside the zip - call it - "Bonus Downloads"...

Here you can add the link for another marketer that you are banking clicks with or you can cut a deal with another marketer to "swap" links. This is a cool way to get some extra clicks from the traffic you already have.

Be sure to use a redirect that way you can change the link when you change marketer's and all your "old" zip files will still point to an active link.

    Cheers,
    Coby

Well, not sure people are going to like to hear my answer
to this but personally, your focus should be to monetize the
lead costs fast so you get your money back, then train them
to click on your emails. In reality, getting that to happen is
hard enough... not sure it's the best use of time at least mine.

      Matt,

I currently use a 'redirect' as a 'thank you' page, which tells the sub their freebie has been 'sent to their inbox and please just wait here a couple of seconds while I show you an offer'. This in turn that goes to a rotating offer so that I can see which one converts better.

The question I'm gonna ask is how long do you think subscribers are willing to wait after they subscribe, while the magic happens and the offer appears on their screen. 2 seconds? 3? How long?

The reason I ask is because my routine takes about 5 seconds all up. That said, there is a 'thank you' page on display that includes a bar graph showing that something is happening - so it's not like they're presented with a dead screen or anything.

      Any thoughts?

I agree with sending or redirecting users to the offer page right after business. This is especially important when it comes to using paid advertisements. It is ones hope to at least break even on the front end.

Double optin systems kill your conversions in my opinion but if you are using confirm subscription page that redirects like this it should increase your front end conversions

I've noticed that most 3rd party systems that have a double
optin feature tends to use a different ip to deliver the email
for the confirmation email then they do regular broadcasts.

I personally always go 3 seconds.

    Matt, nice post!

I use this little technique in some of my biz, and it really works.
Sometimes little and simple clever stuff works best.

    Once again, good one Matt!

    See you 'round!
