Membership Script/Software?

Hi all,

Ok, here's another question:

I'm in the process of creating a membership program and I'd appreciate some recommendations on a membership script/software product.

Background: At this point, using something like 1 Shopping Cart is too pricey. I'm bootstrapping this particular membership program and would like to see if it's successful before I commit to any major monthly expenses. For now, I'm using PayPal and AWeber, so I'd really like a membership script that can use these two things.

Also, my site is done all in WordPress, so whatever script I use needs to be able to integrate with WP.

I heard aMember Pro was good. Can I integrate PayPal and AWeber with it? Is there something better/cheaper out there? I'd like as much flexibility as possible.

Thanks,
Michelle

aMember should work fine with Paypal and AWeber, but I'm not sure whether or not it integrates with Wordpress (I imagine it's possible, I know it integrates with quite a few CMS systems).

For a Wordpress-based membership site, you might want to look into WP Wishlist or MemberWing, I haven't used them but I hear good things about both. Or if you feel like doing a little bit of extra work to get it all set up, someone over on the DLGuard forums posted some instructions for using DLGuard to manage a Wordpress-based membership site. DLGuard works fine with Paypal and AWeber (but if you go that route you might actually want to consider GetResponse instead if that's an option for you, since DLGuard integrates with GetResponse's API for adding leads to your autoresponder).

WishList Member is a good choice based on what you've requested! We have numerous sites with WishList Member, PayPal and AWeber and everything works great. If your business model works really well "then" you can scale to one of the big boys and have your own outsourced tech person do all the heavy lifting.

I am also not sure about the wordPress integration thing.. but I highly recommend aMember... I use it on multiple sites and love it, plus the support is fantastic. Try emailing them about the integration... good luck.

    Hi Michelle,

I know of an upcoming product that should fit your needs - Delavo - it is going to be free as a bonus in John Delavera's birthday bash on the 17th, I got some information through yesterday on it and it has been modelled on his JVManager 2 Fantasos so I know it is going to be good if that is the case.

If you can't wait until then - P.M. me and we can work out something on a hosted Fantasos account - which meets all the criteria except the Wordpress requirement but for a membership that should not make a difference (must ask about a plugin for Fantasos for Wordpress - off to do that now).

    Michelle,

If you;re wanting to protect the entire members area as a whole then put your membership blog in a folder like... yoursite.com/members ... and use Amember.

Use Wishlist Member if you are wanting to use a drip method of content release or want differing levels in your membership. And if you want your free content to be the main landing page.

    Hope that helps!

Adam, the post you found has great content considering what Michelle has stated are her current requirements. We like WishList Member, but I would add that there's no reason to deploy only one script or WordPress plug-in within a business. Maybe WishList Member works for this model, but aMember or another product fits the bill for the next project or even a scaled up version of this project etc...

I agree with you Leon, aMember can be used in bigger and more complex membership sites. But for starting (and smaller project ) the WishList+WP are much more easier to implement

    Have you looked into Nanacast?

I have no affiliation with them, but I hear it does just what you are looking for.

    I agree with Briancol

You will soon have Delavo, which is a trimmed down version of the almost $3,000.00 Fantasos, and you will get it for free.

I have tried every membership system there is (I have do not ask me how I have gotten access to most) because I have a couple membership sites.

The only program that I would work with is Fantasos (and the upcoming Delavo), and this is for the simple reason that is very easy to work with.

I am sure Brian will find an answer about WP, but I think that there is really no need to do so.

One of the advantages that you will get is that it has a silent unsubscribe feature form Aweber, this way you can make sure that people that unsubscribe stop getting what they are not paying for.

I myself am getting access to sites that should be costing me 97 dollars per month and I cancelled yet I still get everything.

Also, nothing beats the security of Fantasos, I am not saying that all others are vulnerable, but there are many products that you can get from google and delicious just by doing the proper search.

and the added bonus is you can have as many level memberships as you want, and as many membership sites as you want.

It is very cool, and did I mention it will be free?

        Hi Michelle,

Since you are working with WP - why not try out Memberwing? That is a WP plugin and works very well. John Taylor also use it - you can read about his experience in his thread.

I also want to implement it in the near future.

        Just a thought.

        Cheers,

        Sandor

          I will check out MemberWing.

          Question about WishList:

I see it integrates with PayPal. Does it also integrate with AWeber? I use AWeber for all of my opt-in forms/lists.

I'd been leaning towards AMember, but WishList is half the cost.

          Thanks,
          Michelle

Wishlist. It's easy, it's cheap and it works. And the guys behind it are wonderful.

And it does integrate with aweber from what I understand.

Seriously, discovering that software changed by business forever.

THANK YOU everyone! The Warrior Forum is absolutely the best place for IM info. So many knowledgable people here and I usually get a response to any question I have ASAP.

For now, I'm just setting up a very simple membership model and would really like a plug-'n-play solution. And I DID see jonb's earlier thread when he first posted it back in Jan. I'd forgotten about it. (Maybe I bookmarked it, but my bookmarks are a morass of info and resources and I have a hard time finding anything in there! I've bookmarked it now.)

Anyway, I think that thread DID say that WishList integrated with AWeber.

I still need to read the info more carefully, but based on what I've seen, what everyone has said and my needs, it looks like WishList is probably the right solution for me right now. I can always upgrade to AMember later.

Thanks so much for all of your help and suggestions, everyone! And jonb, your earlier Jan. thread was particularly helpful. (I read so much info that I forget what I know!)

              Have an awesome day!

There are a lot of additional plugins for aMember which get pitched up when you buy it. For an example, I bought a plugin for vBulletin integration!

If aMember doesn't fit, WP Wishlist is your best bet.
