What options are available for video hosting? Obviously YouTube and it's awesome although at the whim of YouTube whether they allow a video, etc. Amazon S3 looks awesome but I have no idea at what the real cost of using them would be. What other options are available and what is recommended?

Thanks!

You can use S3 for pennies/cents.

Another solution you may consider is Screencast (about 10 dollars a month).

I love love love Amazon S3...and the cost is ridiculously low. Pennies per month in most cases. I've got people streaming thousands of heavy video files at my site (20-100 meg mp4 videos each) and last month my S3 bill was a few bucks.

I would echo both YouTube and Amazon S3.

Personally, I've had trouble with Vimeo taking down videos (as far as I can tell, putting anything behind a paid membership is against their TOS)... I've never had that problem on YouTube, with the same exact setup/videos.

Amazon S3 gives you the most flexible option - prices are cheap, you have full control.

Depends on the traffic you expect. Amazon S3 is great for cost and just serving up the videos efficiently. If you want more security on what you're showing then I would either go with Vimeo Pro for $199/yr which is their commercial offering, or Sprout Video. Both of which offer a lot of extra features for the money.
