Ianal, but I would say an unauthorised derivative work of this type is nearly always going to be a form of copyright infringement.

It could be illegal, you should ask for permission first but I doubt they'll agree as long as you don't follow their conditions.

There are marketers who do similar stuff all the time. Just don't make a 100% copy, change it, and make it look like yours. Nobody can charge you for having the same idea at the same time.

But it is in a different language and techniques are universal.

Would you go on a forum geared toward attorneys and ask internet marketing questions?

It's ok to be inspired by someone's work, but not to use their words (including in another language - that's still a "derivative work" and it breaches their copyright, unless they've specifically assigned their translation rights to you). It can lead to all sorts of problems, both legal and practical (being sued, getting websites taken down by hosting companies, and all the rest of it).

I'm not a lawyer, but I think it's a straightforward enough question. Many of these questions are fairly easy to answer. Look at it this way: would you feel that your rights had been infringed if you created something in another language, and I translated it into English and started selling it as my own product?

He asked if it was illegal, not how the product originator would feel. I agree, that it seems pretty straight forward. But I still don't care to give advice on legal matters. And if I would succumb to the urge to give an opinion, it would certainly have the standard "this is not legal advice...consult an attorney" type caveat. Especially if I was silly enough to give the impression to someone that such a practice was legal.

If what you mean is taking one persons product/content and rehashing it in a different language then no, ofcourse that is NOT legal. That is copyright infringement just as it would be if you were to copy it in English. Changing the language doesn't remove copyright from a piece of work.

I would say is a copyright infringement unless you have permission from the video creator.

Why don't you contact the product's creator and offer to translate it as a JV?
