What's Your Take Using Google Analytics On Multiple Site?

I have read in many eBooks that it's not a good
idea to use Google Analytics account for all your sites,
if you have more than one site.

Reason for this is that if Google detect that most of your
site are ranking high on search engines and find out that
they are all coming from the same owner, it will affect
it's page ranking especially during it's updates.

What are your thought on this; what other traffic tracker
are alternative to Google Analytics, if it does affect page
ranking as the saying says "Don't put all eggs in one basket"
thus this also apply to this?

I think this will also be of help to others here.

Thanks

I have never heard of google de-ranking a site because it is owned by someone that has several successful site. What difference does it make to google that it is the same site owner?

Tell me, are all of your sites on the same servers using the same whois information? If so, Google already knows you own all of your sites.

to pop it here for your opinion.

I think it's one of those things no one knows for sure.

Obviously they know you are in control of all sites if you use GA but then again, they may not all be your sites. You may be a web developer and using GA on a number of your clients sites so they wouldn't just assume you own all sites.

If your sites are crappy spam sites...then yes...don't use the same analytics accounts. Google will discover that one of your sites is spam and possibly clobber your other sites.

If you're running quality sites, it doesn't matter if you use the same analytics account.

have you tried piwik? i've also heard that using google analytics is revealing a bit too much info for google if you are trying to rank in their searches.
