Written my ebook - what next?

I've completed 2 ebooks. The first is a short guide which I intend to give away for free in exchange for email addresses. The second is a paid ebook.

Obviously the next step is getting them out there, but how?

Someone mentioned Clickbank, someone else mentioned LeadPages. Which would you use to promote your ebook, and why? Or is there another way which is more profitable?

Many thanks,

Mike

What are your Ebooks about? By the way, Don't call them EBooks

Call them Reports, Guide Books, BluePrint or something more convincing, it would help you in more sales.

Do you think people have a prejudice against the term eBooks?
The term ebooks gets 301,000 monthly searches. Free eBooks gets 201,000.
Reports gets 18,000 and free reports under 300.
So it seems that most people have no problem with the term eBooks and actually like it as they use it.
Curious why you think report or guide book is that much better?

        Professionalism!

Potential buyers are more convinced with words used like Reports, Guide Books, Blue Prints etc.
Just Look at WSO section; you would hardly see anyone calling his content Ebook but are using other words such as Reports, Blueprints etc to convince buyers that he is going to buy something very special, something which has been produced after research and experiments.

Word Ebooks doesn't convince buyers that the content is something special, In my opinion the reason is that we do come across so many products called Ebooks every day [for free] that we are not ready to make payment to buy another Ebook.

But if the same buyer see something called Guide Book, Reports, BluePrint etc, he will certainly think the content is something special and distinctive than the others he sees everyday here and there.

Just my personal thoughts + I did hear this from some experienced marketers in Madrid during Internet Marketing seminar few months ago

    Mike,
you really shouldn't call them E books, except for an internal use.

Then, depending what they are about, you decide the best publishing platform.
It can be ClickBank or almost any other affiliate network if your E book really fits in some of the categories they sell, but it can be (and I'm just dropping it here since I don't know what are the they about) Amazon, iTunes store etc.

So do a little research, it shouldn't take too much time, and then decide. If they sell something very similar to your E book, chances are you found your platform, or more then one, if you choose so.

Then you need to market it, find affiliates to take it further, and so on. And this is just the tip of the iceberg, be cause it won't sell it self at least in the beginning, even if it's that good.

    Best of luck,

    Veo

You could try selling them as a WSO?

    Mike,

Your next step may depend upon what you have done previously with regard to niche research and the targeting of your audience.

Just getting your books "out there" may prove to be a lot of work with minimal payback unless you are able to put the book(s) in front of the right prospects. You haven't said what your books are about, but I'm guessing they probably won't appeal to just anyone.

So if I were in your shoes I would spend some time and effort figuring out who your targeted prospects might be and where you can find them online. Maybe you have already done this, I don't know.

What I can tell you is that offering your book to a hungry audience will almost always be preferable (more profitable) to just "getting it out there" in front of generic audiences.

The best to your marketing effort,

    Steve

You'll need some social proof (testimonials) for your sales page.

I'm sure there'll be some folks in here (:-)) who would be pleased to review them for you . . .

Mike - you have a few things to consider...

    1. You need a payment processor - that could be Paypal, Clickbank, 2Checkout.com, etc...
    2. You want an affiliate/partner management capability - you can get that either built into Clickbank or by using a front-end like Ejunkie, 1ShoppingCart, etc...
    3. Next, you want to get yourself an autoresponder account which will give you the list management capabilities to manage and communicate with your list (for which you will exchange the freebie ebook)

Once you have that in place...

    1. I would start a blog as it becomes a vehicle to create your own content, pull in traffic and get exposure to you, your business and your products. Posting once a day with topics that contain some keyword relevancy AND are intriguing to your market will get you to 100 unique visitors/day very quickly and then well beyond. Part of this strategy involves bookmarking your content and even doing some exchange of guest blogging will help accelerate things even faster.

    2. Actively pursue your first set of affiliates/partners - they will eventually find you, but in the beginning you need to find them. Look for blogs, forums and websites with newsletters/opt-in's in your niche and ask them to first review your ebook, then if they like it -to help promote it. This is critical to your momentum.

    3. Issue a Press Release to get some online, inbound links and possible some syndication/coverage

    4. Produce some relevant short videos for YouTube that will pull people back into your website

    This should get you started.

    1. Create a back end product in the related niche so you can also make upsell profits. You got the customer in a buying mood, do not stop with the first sale.

    2. Get hosting and a website to sell the product.

    3. Give your report out to a few people in the niche in exchange for testimonials. These will be key when you write your ad copy.

    4. Run a WSO with limited spots available, this can also be combined with step three.

    5. Get some affiliate management software like PayGear to process the payments and manage affiliates. Make sure you get the one click upsell feature and not just the standard upsell feature.

    6. Create affiliate tools such as email swipes and banners.

    7. Set a product launch date and get the product listed on JVNotifyPro so you can get some egger affiliates.

    8. Try to get new affiliates and keep in contact with those who sign up. Make sure you update your affiliates to where the affiliate tools are kept.

    9. When the product launches send out a press release.

    10. Keep your affiliates motivated any way you can, you can do this with bonus payments and keeping in contact with them the week of the launch.
