Is launching a free WSO good for adding subscribers to your list or does it make the quality of your subs lower?

Thanks,

Tre

There's no guarantee of that. But in my opinion, it's worth the try. You can then sell the WSO, anyway. You can have it for free, say, after 200 sales. Then, you can start collecting buyers list by selling it cheap. It's still buyers list.

How are you going to feel if you purchase this WSO and then find out that the seller is giving it away, or selling it cheap right after you paid for it?

This isn't the way to build a relationship with your customers that just purchased from you.

It's not whether launching a WSO is good or bad . . .

It's whether your WSO is very high quality and targeted to a niche specifically.

If it's mediocre or worse, then don't do it.

If the WSO rocks with quality and creativity, then go for it!

    Good luck to you,

Adding Freebies seekers to your list won't do any good to your list; Most of the freebies takers don't buy,so what's the point to spend time, money and resources on adding them to your list.

A free, wso is a good way...to build a list. Yes, they could seek freebies, but you train them to buy, by offering a OTO as soon as they sign up. If your, list is not trained, then they may just... expect freebies from you and may not buy, when you have a product to sell...

IF and its a big IF your product is in the MMO/IM niche it IS a good idea to do a free WSO. When considering the going rates of solo ads, a free WSO will get you more clicks for less money every time, and as mentioned, if your product is in the Internet marketing niche, then those clicks will be just as targeted as a solo ad...

In most cases people who are looking for free lunch don't like to spend money.

A better idea would be launching a $10 WSO and give 100% to your affiliates.
If the quality of your product is good, you can build a list of buyers.

It depends what you compare it with: it's clearly better for adding subscribers to your list than not doing a WSO at all.

That depends on what their average quality is to start with, doesn't it? If you have a poor, unresponsive list, then it might improve the average quality.

If you have a tremendously responsively list, then yes: it might reduce the average quality by including freebie-seekers.

Perhaps a better alternative is simply to do a $1 WSO instead of a free one? If wanting to do a WSO primarily for list-building purposes, I would definitely do a $1 one, myself, rather than a free one. One builds you a smaller list of people known to have either a credit-card or a PayPal account and the ability and willingness to use it online. The other builds you a larger list comprising a mixture of those people and many others, with no way to distinguish between the two groups. I know which I'd rather have.

Yup, it is better to have...those that spend $1, rather than those that spend $0. That $1, shows that they will spend money...even if it is $1, it still shows that if the offer is right, the price is right...that they will buy....

What about giving away a free product to build a list then do list swaps, people don't normally buy the first time anyway, at least with the free product you got their e-mail and you know they are interested in your niche. I think its worth a shot.

The reality is you will sell more of your products using Paypal. That's almost a guarantee. So maybe you could partner up with someone else who is in a Paypal country. No, not me thanks, but I am sure there are people out there you can JV with.

A free WSO can be a good thing and you can definitely use it to create a seed list of subscribers but you must:
    1) provide REAL value with your free WSO. Don't just whack any piece of junk and give it out for free just to collect names!
    2) create a "targeted" WSO so that only people interested in that specific area of IM become free subscribers who you can later sell something to. If your list is not targeted, you're wasting your time as they might never buy anything form you!

    Hope this helps!

I agree with 'sunnysmiles', a targeted audience is essential otherwise your list will be virtually useless!
