Advice needed on a project....

hello,

I need some advice. I have this project I'm working on. It's a site that has a members area that has a variety of tools and functions for a specific niche. It's been a daunting task to get done. And it's still not done after about 8 months of work.

Getting closer though. But my challenge is even when I launch it's not really gonna look like a nice looking consumer ready product. It will work, and do what I say it does, but it's basically gonna be the 1.0 version and I really wonder if anyone is even gonna sign up. Like I can tell already I need to jump to the next level with it if anyone's even gonna give it the time of day, or take it seriously. In other words it's looking like a total basement job.

But with the shier volume of tasks and no budget to work with, I'm forced to do most everything myself. I'm just wondering if this is normal? And do I just have to keep chipping away at it? Or is there something I'm missing? Like is there something I can do to try and improve or speed up the launch?

I was considering trying to find some volunteers and I got a few interested people, but my concern is that they might actually just slow me down more than anything. I am trying to outsource whatever I can on a budget like use Fiverr and stuff.

It's just driving me mad though. Like what do I do, just keep chipping away? Or is there something I'm missing in trying to launch this semi complex members area product???

I think you're best to release what you have now to a small select group.

What I mean is put up your sales pages and site and put some content around that with articles etc. Let that get indexed and taken up by google. Hang out in some forums related to your Niche and invite some people for a free beta membership.

Then engage those people and get their feedback. These people will tell you what to keep, what to keep working on and where to go with it all.

I think you maybe spending to much time your own mind with it, with endless feature creep. What you need is real prospective users telling you what's good, what they like. This will also get you buzzed and build your energy to keep going.

Look around you, how many companies go for perfection? I agree with the Warrior that you should launch the project and fix/improve later.

It seems that you are a perfectionist and many of us too

I will personally just make it good enough and I will just promote it. Don't forget that you can always improve it along the way while you are doing the promotion. Having a perfect but no marketing means that you will still not making any money.

Just launch it as it is and seek input from other people on how to improve your site after launching. The more you procrastinate, the longer it takes. In as much as perfection is key, taking the bold step of launching is also an important aspect. Here, you will get input on other various aspects of the site that might help you in launching the Version 2.0. All the best in your endeavours
